SAIC is seeking a CAD Design Engineer to join our team in Oxnard, CA.

 Job Description: 

Selected candidate would be part of a knowledgeable research, design, development, test, and evaluations team producing drawing packages per ANSI standards and MIL-STD-31000B providing technical assistance to create, update and maintain drawing packages for a US Navy Electronic Warfare program.

The candidate must be able to create, update and maintain mechanical component and assembly drawing packages as well as electrical schematics per ANSI standards, and be able to demonstrate familiarity with MIL-STD-31000B, ensuring the correct level of detail for design, prototype and production source details.

The successful candidate will be able to show experience to review completed drawings in support of clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning and in support of Functional and Physical Configuration Audit(s). Identify existing drawing errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommend revisions and/or improvements.

You will work directly and reside at the customer’s worksite to identify and interpret requirements for drawings and 3D models, work with engineers to evolve the design to improve performance and manufacturability, and provide technical assistance to customer’s drafting department.

You will also work remote from SAIC drafters based in Indianapolis and must be able to interface remotely with these drafters at the SAIC product support facility.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience; four (4) years of experience accepted in lieu of degree

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be proficient in drawing software, highest priority first, Inventor, SolidWorks.  Familiarity with Corel Draw Suite and AutoCAD is beneficial.
  • Experience creating, updating and maintaining drawing packages
  • Must be a US Citizen

Required Clearance:

  • Must have an active DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance to start with the ability to obtain and maintain full Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 Drawing Standards
  • Experience with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
  • PLM/PDM experience
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-31000B
  • Ability to ensure the correct level of detail for design, prototype and production
  • Ability to identify and interpret requirements for drawings and 3D models
  • Experience working with engineers to evolve designs to improve performance and manufacturability
  • STEM Bachelor’s degree with 5 years’ experience or STEM Master’s degree and 2 years’ experience
  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
