Description

This position is responsible for the assessment and authorization of NIST-based security plans and documents for multiple organizations at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.  Reviews of technical controls and plan documentation are required to be completed on NASA internal and external system security plans to ensure that appropriate levels of safeguards exist for NASA data. 

The candidate must have an IT Security background in assessment and authorizations with a solid understanding of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), possess strong oral and written skills, knowledge of NIST documentation (specifically SP 800-53 Rev 4/5 and SP 800-171), continuous monitoring, and risk management.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Assessment methodologies associated with NIST SP 800-53A
  • NIST Special Publications relating to ongoing authorizations (800-37, 800-39, 800-53 / 53A, 800-137, 800-171)
  • Security control validation procedures
  • Risk Management
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Tools (exposure to RSA Archer is a plus)
  • Excellent critical thinking and analysis skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelors and 0 years related experience.

 

Desired Education: 

  • A degree in cyber security, computer science, or related field and at least 3 years of experience performing information system security assessments and/or maintaining system security plans.

 

Desired Certs: 

  • ISC2 (CISSP, CAP) or ISACA (CISA) certification is a plus.

 

Clearance: 

  • U.S. Citizenship required, must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
