SAIC is seeking a qualified LVC Configuration Manager to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program out of Kaiserslautern, Germany.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. As the lead agent for M&S within the USAF, AFAMS gathers requirements, seeks out potential solutions, and integrates legacy and emerging M&S solutions across the USAF and the DoD. The USAF has an M&S initiative that focuses on providing simulation and synthetic training as the critical capability to augment live training, act as an enabler for critical decision-making, and enhance human performance. In the current resource constrained environment, demand for M&S rises with the continuously evolving need for operational readiness and mission preparedness across the USAF, DoD, and with coalition partners. AFAMS focuses on providing innovative M&S services as the key to meeting this demand.

The role of this position is to support the Warrior Preparation Center (WPC) Einsiedlerhof AS, Germany. The Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) Configuration Manager will:

  • Define, manage, and control platform and network configuration baselines for all networks.
  • Establish and manage organization change management  processes
  • Develop and administer Change Requests and Change Request Templates
  • Schedule and manage Change Control Board reviews
  • Review and approve Cybersecurity Impact Evaluations
  • Update data regularly including all approved change orders processed the previous month
  • Provide technical input to the Configuration Control Boards and Engineering Working Group
  • Support Configuration Management (CM) of software, infrastructure, network, telephone cables, and equipment, physical locations of equipment, and facility features require baselines
  • Maintain circuit action records, hardware and software modifications, and maintain network and rack elevation diagrams
  • Develop and maintain network diagram of network infrastructure for every communication room, including but not limited to: NIPRNET, SIPRNET, Coalition and Exercise networks, VTC systems, and telephones
  • Update network drawings regularly including all approved change orders executed the previous month, and other infrastructure characteristics (e.g., electrical power, Uninterruptible Power Supply coverage, hazardous materials, alarm systems, space utilization) as defined by WPC standards.
  • Update network drawings monthly or as changes are made, include all new and revised information obtained the previous month
  • Maintain a database of communications equipment (such as switches, routers, hub, and encryption devices) used in all the WPC networks, plus items available as deployable assets or spares

Qualifications

Required Experience/Qualifications:

    • 5+ years Configuration Management experience
    • Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate, Configuration Management Process Improvement Center (CMPIC) Course 3, or ITIL 4 Strategic Leader certification
    • Experience supporting LVC distributed training systems and Distributed Training Centers (DTC)
    • Experience with formal configuration management in an IT service environment.
    • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience, or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree
    • Active Secret Clearance

 

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with LVC distributed training systems
    • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework and eMASS
