SAIC is looking for a highly motivated and well-rounded DevSecOps expert to support various programs and strategic initiatives within the company, including internal investment projects (IR&D) and external customer support.  The selected candidate will be an expert in all aspects of Cloud Optimization, Automation, Scripting and Development who readily adapts to support a variety of challenging technical requirements in a dynamic and fast paced environment. This is remote work that may be performed from any location within the United States.


A well rounded senior technology engineer who enjoys bringing robust, scalable, and immutable services to life. You will deliver innovative solutions to difficult problems across multiple distributed and highly-available environments. You understand DevOps practices and SRE principles and apply them strategically. You are energized by collaboration with your fellow software and operations engineers, senior leadership, and product management to produce extraordinary value for the organization.


The Cloud DevSecOps Engineer will provide technical leadership and commercial best practices to Cloud resource consumption and costs for AWS and Azure. He/she will evolve and improve Cloud DevSecOps, application migrations, application of common services, and operations and sustainment with the intent to reduce Cloud resource consumption and costs without sacrificing performance and availability. He/she will be responsible for transforming high-level/low-level enterprise design artifacts into working, prototypes, capturing and analyzing results, optimizing system performance, and troubleshooting anomalies.


SAIC is looking for a DevSecOps Engineer to provide technical design, project leadership, mentoring of team members, and consultation services to internal consumers of our services. We want you to be both a driving force within the team and an effective collaborator with our partner teams. You should be comfortable working within all 3 of our primary focus areas (cloud infrastructure, observability, and CI/CD) with strong emphasis on CI/CD service design and management preferred. You will support existing services, recommend/design/implement new services, and work directly with our internal engineering teams to improve both infrastructure and application deployment and testing pipelines.



  • Cost optimizing existing cloud environments and applications.
  • Designs, plans, and integrates cloud computing and virtualization systems using infrastructure as code and modern cloud-native deployment techniques such as DevOps and/or DevSecOps. 
  • Preparing concept of operations papers
  • Developing target state diagrams
  • Conducting gap analysis of tools, common services and business processes
  • Researching alternatives
  • Evaluating total cost of ownership
  • Establishing roadmaps, project plans, and epics
  • Designing, developing, implementing and assessing prototype improvements
  • Establishing metrics
  • Mentoring teams
  • Preparing and presenting supporting documentation
  • Work closely with the Government engineers, SAIC cross-functional teams and SAIC partners to define and implement solutions

  • Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs.  Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
  • Works under consultative direction toward pre-determined long-range goals and objectives. 
  • Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.  Contributes to development of new principles and concepts.
  • Participates with senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. 
  • May support new business development initiatives, including bid and proposal and bases of estimate
  • May support strategic initiatives within SAIC, including research and development
  • May support strategic alliances with outside vendors
  • Remains abreast of the newest cloud computing tools and technologies available.
  • Experience with high level programming languages such as Python, Ruby, and Golang
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, and Ansible
  • Experience managing users and infrastructure in Cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP using IAC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience building tooling around REST APIs
  • Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines using TeamCity, Jenkins, or Gitlab
  • Experience managing artifact repositories such as Nexus or Artifactory


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's and 18 years or more experience; Masters and sixteen years or more experience; PhD or JD and fifteen years or more experience. 

Required Experience and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math or operations research and 14 years of experience as Software Engineer. A Master’s Degree may substitute for four (4) years of experience.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain up to a Top Secret level DoD clearance upon request
  • Location: 100% telework with up to 25% travel.
  • Five (5) years of experience refactoring and migrating cloud applications using DevOps toolsets and modern methods
  • Three (3) years of experience optimizing business processes, developing business cases, and analyzing alternative
  • Continuous improvement and continuous learning mindset
  • Working knowledge of multiple Cloud Platforms
  • AWS or Azure Solutions Architect certification
  • Agile process and tools
  • Knowledge of DESMF or ITIL
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow or comparable IT Service Management (ITSM) products
  • DevSecOps methods and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven, ANT)
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Desired – Security + or CISSP certification
  • Proven success in CI/CD service design and implementation as well as end to end pipeline design and rollout
  • Proven success in AWS infrastructure design and deployment across multiple accounts
  • Experience managing kubernetes infrastructure design and management
  • Experience building and deploying services in a kubernetes environment
  • Experience building and managing monitoring systems such as Sensu and Prometheus

Desired Experience and Certifications:

  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance is strongly preferred
