SAIC is seeking an Electrical Engineer Senior to support the US Navy in Bedford, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Researches, designs, develops, modifies, evaluates and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems.
  • Position is in direct support of the tasking received from PEO SHIPS, PMS 4013, and SSP and will provide engineering support and integration for the design, development, production, test, and sustainment of ship and submarine sonar sensors (Transducers).
  • Conducts experimental tests on equipment and evaluates results.
  • Develops specifications for selecting components and equipment to use.   
  • Have experience in sonar sensors, including their application, trouble shooting, and design. 
  • Have the knowledge of circuit and transformer design and proficient working knowledge of Electrical test equipment (Impedance analyzer, O-Scoop, Partial Discharge equipment, and programing a basic controllers). 
  • Experience in Lab-View and programing languages (i.e. C programming, C++, and assembly language). 
  • Have perform dynamic modeling and simulation (i.e. COMSOL). 
  • Be proficient at reading and developing engineering drawings and wiring diagrams. 
  • This position supports the fleet in a shipyard environment the candidate needs to have good hands-on, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • It is preferred that the candidate has acoustic knowledge.
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field. 
  • General knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives. 
  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. 
  • Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.
  • Be able to effectively communicate and coordinate between engineering disciplines, production, test, in addition to our academia partners.
  • It also provides support to the Fleet by means of technical assistance for checkout and installation of all relevant products.
  • This position exercises a vital leadership role within branch.
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives. 
  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.
  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. 
  • Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. 
  • Technology selection phase consisting evaluating the best CM technology for the needs of the organization.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience
  • Ability to implement procedures and processes for the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of the programs/projects.
  • Ability to monitor and coordinate tasking and continuous work for the branch's internal and external customers and continuously marketing new customers.
  • Provide strong leadership skills, innovative thinking and management skills to provide employees continuous creative ideas to meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Must have the knowledge of circuit and transformer design and proficient working knowledge of Electrical test equipment (Impedance analyzer, O-Scoop, Partial Discharge equipment, and programing a basic controllers).
  • Experience performing dynamic modeling and simulation (i.e. COMSOL or other modeling tools).
  • Have experience in Lab-View and programing languages (i.e. C programming, C++, and assembly language).
  • Be proficient at reading and developing engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • This position supports the fleet in a shipyard environment the candidate needs to have good hands-on, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of all technical documentation, specifications, standards, procedures, technical/engineering reference books, tests, and publications.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain a Full DoD Secret Security Clearance.
