SAIC has been awarded a task to support the Office of Experimental Sciences (NA-113) Technical, Analytical, Programmatic and Integration Support Services. This organization is a key part of the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Program. It addresses both basic and applied science and engineering associated with weapon design, engineering, margins of uncertainty, development of diagnostics and major experimental facilities. It works closely with the Los Alamos, Livermore, and Sandia National Laboratories and the Nevada Nuclear Security Site (old Nevada Test Site). Also works with the nuclear weapon production sites and DoD relevant weapon system program offices.
Serves as the alter ego for the Chief Engineer/Scientist and has the knowledge and experience to evaluate the work of the support contractor team, the federal clients, national laboratory and production site inputs and products for other parts of DOE, DOD, and other agencies and foreign organizations. The evaluations shall be technical in nature and aimed at identifying issues and opportunities and should not intrude into the decision space of Federal officials. Evaluations can involve refurbishment of existing scientific and production facilities, evaluation of potential program requirements for replacement facilities, evaluation of proposals and status of Major Items of Equipment (MIEs) and significant experimental device development. Evaluation can include cost-benefit analysis, analysis of alternatives, technical feasibility assessments, project risk assessment, and schedule analysis (might a major investment be too 'early to need' or 'urgent start needed to reduce risk of missing a critical deadline for when capability has to be available).
Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.
