SAIC is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer on the NASA OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Lanham, MD.

The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites.  The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.  

This is a systems engineering position working with the Data Products Management System (DPMS) Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) team on JPSS.  Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the JPSS GRAVITE system.
  • Support the DPMS in all readiness activities to include; GRAVITE build deployments, System migrations and decommissioning, Joint Compatibility Tests (JCTs), and daily operations testing.
  • Support the DPMS in in the generation of schedules and requirements management.
  • Manage the work of other systems engineers.
  • Support development of GRAVITE software and operational tools
    • Schedules
    • Requirements
    • Testing and verification
  • Collaborate with other DPMS leads.
  • Interface with NASA and NOAA leadership on matters regarding DPMS.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience
