SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer Intern to support the Army National Guard.

Note: This role offers partial work from home/ remote/ virtual work at home due to COVID-19, but the expectation is that the Intern will work at the SAIC office in the Huntsville, AL with the hiring manager 1 to 2 days each week upon hire. The duration of the internship is the extended summer of 2021 (12 weeks), and potentially beyond.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the MISS PMO with developing, reviewing and editing newsletters and documentation in response to staff requirements.
  • Support the review and revision of Government deliverables to ensure clarity and proper formatting.
  • Support with the development of templates, standard operating procedures, and other task order artifacts under the guidance of the task order technical writer.
  • Support to improve the tools that were developed in-house to perform these objectives.
  • Prepare, analyze, and interpret reports.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a partial work from home/ remote/ virtual work at home capacity.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Completed High School degree. Must be actively pursuing a 4 year degree at an accredited university, majoring in English, Communications, or other related fields requiring strong written communications skills. An ideal candidate will be a rising Junior or Senior and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
  • 2 years of work experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for writing.
  • Prior experience working independently to research, analyze, and resolve an issue.
  • Be able to exercise discretion and tact in dealing with sensitive situations.
  • Possess basic technical knowledge, a willingness to perform contextual research, a passion for writing, and be a self-starter.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision and collaborate as part of a team.
  • Self-starter with the initiative to ask questions and seek challenges.
  • Be able to adjust to constantly changing priorities and demand.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • A strong work from home/ remote/ virtual work at home “work ethic”.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral and telework
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
