Description

SAIC is looking for an experienced software engineer to join a team working on a strategic project supporting our client.  This software engineer will participate in the analysis, documentation, development, implementation of software system requirements that support the business/mission systems needed by the project’s customers.  This position may also participate in the analysis of commercial off the shelf (COTS) software capabilities as they relate to our customers’ requirements and assist with deployment of COTS software and its integration with other software solutions and cloud services where needed. The successful candidate will interact with teammates, internal project leadership, members of other teams, and customers to determine needs and requirements, then work both as a team member and individual to translate these needs into custom software solutions that are peer reviewed, tested, verified, and integrated.

Primary duties include:

  • Gather requirements, design, develop and test high-reliability applications, and provide end user support for a number of applications.
  • Interact with developers project team members to build software solutions that fit the scoped requirements
  • Manage software application code using version control and problem tracking software expediently and accurately
  • Work effectively in an Agile software development (or adapted Agile) environment
  • Interact closely with customers

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science; Information Systems, Software Engineering, or relevant discipline, plus 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience with C#/.Net front-end development
  • Experience with JavaScript software development.
  • Familiar with all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (not required to start)

Desired Skills

  • Experience with delivery of software solutions that execute in cloud environments
  • Experience maintaining legacy applications and working in existing code bases
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools
  • Experience with claim-based authentication – OAUTH
  • Experience implementing COTS software solutions and enabling integration with other applications, cloud services, and data layers
  • Experience with Software Configuration Mgt tools – Ex. - Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc.
  • Scripting experience – Bash, batch, Python, Golang, etc.
  • Experience with coding against relational/open source databases
  • Working knowledge of Systems Engineering, ITIL best practices, and Scrum/Agile delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to review software designs with business owners and ensure alignment of design and development activities with project/customer business requirements

Target salary range: $100,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
