Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is seeking a Business Development Manager to support our effrots in Utah and the surrounding area. This position reports to the Director, New Business Development in the Logistics and Supply Chain Business Unit. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal LSC BU team(s), and cross-functionally within the Defense and Civilian Sector to expand current contract revenue, and qualify new lines of business supporting growth initiatives. Within this partnership, the candidate will share overall responsibility for the new business development strategy, planning, and execution for Logistics and Supply Chain opportunities within Defense and Federal Civilian customers in the states of Utah and Colorado.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the experience and career path trajectory required to manage the full scope of business practices required to manage a book of business, including business development, pipeline development, and client management. This is a telework position with travel required -- approximately 40%.    

Job Duties:

The successful candidate understands the missions of the respective Agencies and their cultures, organizational components, leadership, major programs, and their challenges. This role effectively encompasses two primary areas of responsibility, New Business Development and capture management support. The candidate is responsible for leading target Agency strategy planning and positioning with full support from a corporate, sector, and business unit infrastructure that includes capture management, and subject matter expertise covering a broad range of portfolio capabilities. 

The New Business Development responsibilities include identification, qualification, and maturation of opportunities aligned with existing contract vehicles or positioned for alignment against a new contract initiative. These responsibilities require the candidate to lead throughout the lifecycle process, and stay deeply involved in developing the win strategy. It is expected this individual will manage a dynamic, multi-year pipeline of opportunities in various stages of maturity. These activities will promote the complete portfolio of services from SAIC’s Logistics and Supply Chain Business Unit.    

Responsibilities include:

Market analysis, strategic business planning including identification, qualification, and marketing aspects of a complete sales lifecycle that will lead to the financial growth of the Logistics and Supply Chain Business Unit. This position will include oversight of customer contact and positioning, teaming interactions, and coordination with other internal operations team(s), business development, capture management, and sales resources available across SAIC. This position requires the candidate to engage with existing programs to understand current execution and identify improvement opportunities.   

Qualifications

Clearance Requirement:

  • Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance

Preferred Skills:

  • Bachelors degree and 10 years or more of related experience
  • 5 years or more of related government contracting experience

Required Skills:

  • 10 or more years' experience in new business development focused on Defense and Federal Civilian agencies; Experience with Defense and Federal Civilian agencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in leading and interacting with executives and technical professionals at various levels
  • Experience managing a pipeline of business focused on year-over-year growth
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, to motivate/ energize teams, and an ability to develop and implement creative strategies that can position the Business Unit for new business
  • Experience developing account strategies
  • Able to develop actionable plans by leveraging market knowledge and future vision models
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft 365 applications to include Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel
  • Detail oriented self-starter with an acute ability to work independently
