SAIC is looking for a Network Engineer to support a Navy shipboard project located in the Pascagoula, MS area. Candidate will work with the Project/Program Office to maintain, install and monitor computers used for the trial card process.  

Candidate must have excellent IT troubleshooting skills, ability to setup hardware and software, hardware maintenance and repairs, maintain operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, and laptops.

Candidate will be required to install mini-LANs for shipboard use onboard navy ships for the Electronic Trial Card (ETC) system, and maintain systems while underway for navy ships sea trials.

The position requires a candidate be willing to travel roughly 10% up to 20% of the year. Travel is both short, and long term in nature. Although most travel can be anticipated well in advance, emergent travel requirements are not uncommon. Typical travel is 9 to 14 days for ship testing and trials with up to four weeks when the ship is in an industrial availability.

The position is based out of Pascagoula, MS and supports various shipyards and repair facilities on the East and West Coasts.

Temporary teleworking allowed  for COVID 19 restrictions. Once the restrictions have been lifted, the work will return to on site.

Qualifications

Required education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology related areas of study and two (2) years of experience; or 5-6 years of Navy/ NAVSEA experience.

Skills required:

  • Five years of experience in IT related fields. 
  • Must be physically able to work in a shipyard environment, as well as in an office setting.
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. 
  • Required to install mini-LANs for shipboard use onboard navy ships for the Electronic Trial Card (ETC) system, and maintain systems while underway for navy ships sea trials.

Required clearance:

  • Must have a minimum active Secret security clearance.

Travel Required:

  • The position requires a candidate be willing to travel roughly 10% up to 20% of the year
