SAIC is seeking a Thermal Engineer on the OMES II contract in support of the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The position is located in Lanham, MD.
JPSS is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) next-generation operational Earth observation program that acquires and distributes global environmental data primarily from multiple polar-orbiting satellites. The program plays a critical role to NOAA’s mission to understand and predict changes in weather, climate, oceans and coasts, and the space environment, which support the Nation’s economy and protect lives and property.
The JPSS Flight Project, is responsible for the management of the Suomi National Polar Project (S-NPP) technical support, and post launch support. JPSS Flight Project management responsibilities include the design, development, manufacturing, integration and test, verification and documentation of the JPSS flight systems. The Project monitors the launch vehicle acquisition by KSC and provides payload launch integration support. KSC provides software, launch site facilities, and launch site support services required to successfully integrate the observatory to the LV, verify their integration, and conduct pre-launch and launch operations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Desire to continually learn. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with thermal analysis tools Thermal Desktop and SINDA/FLUINT
- Integration & Test (thermal vacuum testing) experience
