Description

The Linux Systems Administrator (SA) will provide support to the Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment (ALRE) programs at NAVAIR Lakehurst, NJ.  Tasks will include the implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance. 

Job Duties:

  • provide support to the program including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all client/server/storage/network devices
  •  install, configure and manage Linux operating system clients/servers and troubleshoot issues  
  • perform database administrative functions
  • perform basic scripting procedures and work with the customer’s systems on a daily basis
  •  harden Linux server installations and install information assurance vulnerability alert (IAVA) alerts/patches  clients/servers as required
  • develop plans for automated information systems from project inception to conclusion including systems requirements determination
  • analyze user interfaces, maintain hardware and software performance tuning, analyze workload and computer usage, maintain interfaces with outside systems, analyze downtimes, analyze proposed system modifications, upgrades and new COTS

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must have an Interim Secret clearance prior to start date with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • A BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required
  • At least 15 years’ experience performing a majority of the system administration functions listed above. It is preferred that at least 1 year of this experience be on Department of Defense IT systems
  • Experience with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Red Hat Linux 5/6.x.
  • Experience with one or more of the following web and application server platforms: Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, WebLogic, etc.
  • Experience with relational database management systems (MySQL, SQLite, PostgreSQL)
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills and detail oriented
  • Be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Obtain CompTIA Security+ certification within 3 months of hire
  • Some travel may be required

  • Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) a plus
