Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Military Wargaming Analyst based in Suffolk, VA! This individual will be supporting a Joint Staff organization which data collection & analysis, wargaming and experimentation support, event planning, design and execution, to inform strategic decision making. This position requires knowledge and experience with multiple types of analysis, and familiarity with Wargaming. This analyst will collaborate and coordinate with other Joint Staff and Service divisions and directorates, participate in and attend collaboration meetings, and provide documents and reports relevant to specific division tasks & activities.

Job Duties Overview:

  • Contribute to the design, execution, and delivery of analytic tasks associated with wargames, simulations, and tabletop exercises, including the shaping of objectives, crafting of wargaming constructs, authoring of scenarios, facilitation of participant discussions, overseeing logistics, and authoring of post-wargame reports and briefings.
  • Conduct research and analysis in support of wargame design and assessment, including on concepts & operating concepts, and other relevant documents to establish mastery of the pertinent facts surrounding the concepts, CONOPS, CONEMPS and/or new systems or technologies under consideration.
  • Perform analysis of data gathered from experiments, exercises, simulations, wargames and lab events to develop reports and recommendations for senior DoD decisions on resourcing. Such analysis would require the integration and application of analytical methods, models, and tools in support of wargame data collection and analysis.
  • Apply objective, analytical, and orderly thinking to the analysis of complex U.S. operations to be addressed with the aid of concepts and/or new systems or technologies, developing requirements for qualitative and quantitative analysis.
  • Coordinates with senior military leaders and action officers to plan and participate in pre-game workshops and planning events, as well as war games and workshops in direct support of the customer.
  • Provide research and analytical support to division and projects, including written, non-technical reports for senior DoD decision makers, reflecting assessment and synthesis of wargame results, analytical findings and recommendations. Use high standards to ensure products are clear, well-organized and defensible.
  • Knowledge of joint warfighting capabilities and tactics
  • Ability to work in collaborative team/staff environments.
  • Experience performing any of the following: Joint Wargaming, Joint Experimentation, Event Design, Event Planning, Event Execution, Modeling & Simulation, Operations Research System Analysis (ORSA), or Exercise Planning.
  • Experience with facilitating wargame data collection, after action reviews, and associated analytic reporting.
  • Must possess proven written and verbal communication skills with a variety of audiences; be able to act independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in use of MS Office (e.g., PowerPoint) products.


  • Bachelors and 5 years or more of relevant joint experience or Masters and 3 years or more of relevant joint experience
  • Experience with operating on a Combatant Command, Joint, or Service headquarters staff, or at Operational-level headquarters such as Corps, Numbered Air Force, Numbered Fleet, Joint Force Headquarters, or Joint Task Force
  • DoD TS/SCI Clearance required to start

Target salary range: $75,001 - $100,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
