The National Security and Space group of SAIC is actively seeking a Stockpile Policy Writer with an active Top Secret Clearance to support our customer at the Pentagon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting technical papers and edit, revise and format staff action packages, publications and supporting documentation prepared by senior policy analysts for the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense Programs.

Daily responsibilities may include:

• Editing for adherence to executive level unique writing style employing OSD established format, punctuation and the proper use of military terminology.
• Document conversion to various electronic media for distribution purposes. 
• Supporting documentation preparation and technical writing supporting national oversight bodies to include the Nuclear Weapons Council, the Nuclear Deterrent Enterprise Risk Group and the Serious Incident Response Council. 
• Reporting these bodies are addressed to the President, Congress and leaders across the interagency.

Qualifications

REQURIED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of six (6) years of experience with a bachelor's degree in English, History or other similar field with some scientific, engineering or technical field exposure is required. 
• Ability to draft for senior policy decision makers’ technical documents on highly classified and complex scientific, engineering and technical topics/subjects. 
• Excellent writing skills and an in-depth knowledge of editorial principles and techniques. 
• Proficiency in MS Word and Adobe Acrobat is necessary.
• Proven OSD working experience with knowledge of DoD processes and ‘how the government works’. 

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

• A working knowledge of DOD organizations and functions is a strong plus.
• Master’s Degree in English, History or other similar field

REQUIRED CLEARANCE:

• Active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI adjudication
