JOB DESCRIPTION:  SAIC is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Patuxent River, MD to support multiple programs at the Atlantic Test Range. In this role you will be doing Real-time software development using C++ and QT in a Red Hat environment. This will also include devloping user control GUIs, storage and retrieval systems, systems application programs, and low level instrumentation I/O interfaces, as well as integration and use of industry 3rd party software APIs.
 
Job Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Real-time software development using C++ and QT in a Red Hat environment
  • Software development including user control GUIs, storage and retrieval systems, systems application programs, and low level instrumentation I/O interfaces, as well as integration and use of industry 3rd party software APIs.
  • Defining system and software requirements  
  • Developing system and software requirements and design documentation
  • Developing test plans, test descriptions, test procedures, and test reports
  • Verifying implementation of system and software requirements
  • Conducting requirements correlation analysis and system performance assessments
  • Configuration management of Advanced Dynamic Aircraft Measurement System 3 (A3)
  • System and software documentation development, verification and maintenance
  • Performing test analysis to determine system and test coverage, to evaluate critical test results, and to evaluate all software changes
  • Performing code inspections for proper test sequences, consistent interfaces, correct data flow, completeness, and appropriate logic flow
  • Ensuring that software changes are thoroughly tested, and accepted, and that changes made during testing do not adversely affect systems and software performance
  • Conducting demonstrations, for validation and training purposes, of created or modified software programs
  • Monitoring the software development process and providing technical consultation to team leaders and team members
  • Participating in working groups, acquisition milestone reviews, and formal qualification testing to identify potential risks to Advanced Dynamic Aircraft Measurement System 3
  • Resolving Software and System interface problems
 

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical discipline.
  • 5 or more years of software development experiences.
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
Desired Technical Skills:
  • Knowledgeable in computer software/hardware, automated data processing systems, and computer systems interfacing
  • Should have strong working knowledge of C++
  • Experience in MySQL and MatLab highly desired
  • Knowledge of Qt and understanding of Red Hat desired
  • Some knowledge of Digital Signal Processing techniques desired
  • Should be familiar with DoD security policies and practices
