SAIC is actively seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer with a TS/SCI to work with a diverse team of analysts, linguists, cultural experts, and operations officers, focused on creating and recognizing targeting opportunities and strategies in the cyber-realm. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a variety of networks & systems in a mission-critical enterprise environment. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a small team, without a constant management presence. Works in a team of various government, subcontractor, and SAIC personnel.
Daily responsibilities include monitoring and maintenance of 50 server production cluster and a 12 server development cluster, installation of new hardware and software, capacity planning, testing of new solutions in a dedicated testbed environment, and participation in design and build processes. This engineer is expected to express and defend opinions and practices in technical discussions. Interaction with end users of varying knowledge levels is also required. Participation in security industry conferences, trade shows, and seminars is highly encouraged.
Travel outside the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area is less than 5%. Facility is located near Metro and VRE. Dress code is 95% casual, 4% business casual, 1% business formal. Current telework is 1-2 days/week. After COVID-19 restrictions are removed, telework will be available, but less frequent.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of five (5)+ years’ experience of working knowledge in a networks & systems enterprise environment with a Bachelor’s Degree. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Security+ or CISSP certification on day one.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, network infrastructure, and networked appliances, to include administrative access and configuration experience.
- MUST be fully conversant in the OSI model.
- Knowledge of VMWare: ESXi 6.5, ESXi 7, Horizon, vSphere, vCenter.
- Knowledge of Windows Server Administration.
- Knowledge of Digital Certificates and Public Key Infrastructures.
- Able to build server and desktop hardware, ie unbox, rack, connect, and configure new equipment.
- Able to troubleshoot systems issues in real time, without causing additional downtime.
- Knowledge of rules and procedures for handling government classified and proprietary information, and experience working within a secure facility.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, including the ability to defuse situations, and to deal with individuals who might not fully understand the technology they use every day.
DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Knowledge of Linux systems administration.
- Knowledge of VPN technology and implementation.
- Knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, telephones, firewalls, and servers.
- Knowledge of printers, networked print queues, and basic maintenance.
- Knowledge of Apple Mac OSX.
- Knowledge of SPLUNK.
- Knowledge of military operations, terminology, and structure
- Working knowledge of popular, legacy, and new social media, blog sites, and mobile applications.
REQUIRED CLEARANCE:
- Active Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI (PR within 6 years).
- Active polygraph or willingness to sit for a polygraph examination is required.
