Job Description


SAIC is seeking a Distributed Systems Operations Manager to support our Government customer from Vienna, VA. The Senior Windows Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, configuration, and implementation of the Windows platform, including architecture management of the Active Directory environment.

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated enterprise experience in managing multiple teams in an operational environment, with the ability to manage the expectations of peers, customers, and management while.  The ideal candidate will have functional expertise in multiple focus areas which include:

  • Serve as Technical (engineering) lead in audit remediation for Windows, VMware, Linux, Desktops, iPhones, O365 – Firsthand experience with NIST/security audits.
  • Provide oversight to multiple teams, ensuring prioritization of all work across the contract is adhered to, as well as ensuring that first and foremost operational SLRs are met. 
  • Provide insight to resourcing future projects (via Lean Portfolio Management) that will be staffed with current O&M resources.
  • Align strategic goals to operational day-to-day objectives as well as providing input to future projects to identify critical dependencies
  • Facilitate information gathering sessions between the customer’s technical staff and Distributed Systems Leads to assess customer objectives/requirements against technical and resource capabilities
  • Ensure that contractual objectives are met by analyzing long-term effects of tactical problem solving.
  • Drive outage calls through to resolution of underlying problems, ensure that any resolution (temporary or permanent) has documented steps/procedures, as well as document any risks or issues while troubleshooting.
    • Set objectives early (what is required to end the call, and this does not mean ‘how do I fix the current problem’)
    • Document every step taken along the way
    • Ensure any actions taken have approval from customer/management – if not available – make the decision and own it.
    • Clearly articulate issues
  • Lead the Distributed Systems Team in developing thorough Reports, to include root cause analysis documents of critical issues.
  • Understand Technical requirements from the customer, and develop project plans to implement those requirements


  • Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience
  • Must be able to obtain
