SAIC has an opportunity for a Principal Network Engineer to support the US Army Corps of Engineers Revolutionary IT Services (USACE RITS) program.

NOTE: This is a 100% virtual / work from home / remote position located anywhere in the CONUS.

The USACE RITS contract will provide modern and secure enterprise-wide IT support services to approximately 37,000 USACE customers located throughout the CONUS and OCONUS. Services will support the mission needs of USACE’s Headquarters (HQs) located in Washington, D.C., nine Divisions and 43 Districts, to include over 1,500 field and area project offices and two data centers that are currently located in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Hillsboro, Oregon

As technical expert with complete latitude in day-to-day decision-making, performs wireless technology related engineering tasks required for providing Engineering Design Support Services (EDSS) capability and infrastructure to deliver IT projects at both enterprise and local site levels within the USACE OCIO/G-6 environment IAW DoD, Army, and USACE OCIO G6 policies and procedures. Provides network engineering and technical services required to design, model, test, pilot, and implement the systems and infrastructure needed to deliver voice, video, data and other services, IAW established architectures, security standards, as well as the SEMP. Designs and plans networks, and installs, configures, maintains, and updates wireless network equipment and software, as well as provides network and security management, for WIFI solutions. Determines specifications for and manages the cost analysis, purchase, testing, installation, support, and quality assurance review of network communication systems and platforms. Implements and documents design standards, and establishes appropriate interfaces that best fulfill interoperability and mission requirements. Analyzes network traffic and bandwidth needs, and provides capacity-planning solutions. Configures network to ensure highest security and efficient flow of data. Uses tools to evaluate to test and tweak wireless products, such as routers, switches, hubs, bridges, virtual private networks (VPNs), and network amplifiers, among others. Manages firewalls and routing protocols. Validates performance, quality, and reliability of the RF link. Monitors the network, troubleshooting and fixing problems and breakdowns. Develops and implements policies for and oversees network access. Develop, maintain, and implement backup and retrieval mechanisms. Provides advice, assistance, investigation, coordination, and implementation services for improving or extending existing network solutions, or implementing emerging solutions. Design and deploy changes to the configurations of clients as per the change management process. Develops and maintains network records and documentation of network configuration, development, and maintenance schedules, policies, and procedures.  Provides guidance and status updates to leadership regarding issues that could impact services, and interfaces with vendors to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD.  

Additional four (4) years experience in lieu of degree.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:  Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance

CERTIFICATIONS: IAT-II (e.g. Security+)

 


Target salary range: $115,001 - $125,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
