SAIC currently has an opening for a Systems Administrator to work at a NIWC San Diego, CA. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience providing advanced computing solutions in a heterogeneous environment. We use a wide array of Windows and Linux systems in a tightly integrated environment with a focus on security and high performance computing. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install, support and maintain both physical and virtual network servers and appliances
  • Perform network monitoring, reporting, and testing for LAN, VLAN, WIFI, etc.
  • Provide technical support when needed
  • Secure and maintain Microsoft and RHEL servers
  • Support cybersecurity efforts for RMF accreditations (ATO)
  • Perform ACAS, SCAP scans and STIG compliance as required and upload scans to VRAM
  • Perform system backups for future recovery and ensure security through access controls
  • Must have experience developing Security Policies/Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)/Other Documentation.
  • Must be able provide analysis of Directives, Policies, Instructions (CTOs, FRAG/TASK/OPORDs, IAVM, PKI Guidance), Impact on RDT&E Network
  • Analyze system configurations per DISA STIG using STIGviewer, SCC, and OpenSCAP
  • Strong desire to adhere to best practices and provide the highest quality of service and support
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, recommend changes and upgrades
  • Must be able to review and understand technical drawings
  • Patch management
  • Promote collaboration with other staff members and participate in the implementation of new projects, ideas, etc

Qualifications

Requirements:

Active Secret Clearance

BS Degree with 2 years experience or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree

  • Firm working knowledge of Windows or Linux systems
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with VMware / Hyper-V
  • Understanding of application and OS security, virus scanning, and patching in an RMF environment
  • Detailed oriented with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and documentation skills required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with other team members
  • Experience with backup, antivirus and anti-malware/spyware solutions
  • Problem solve rapidly and effectively, in a timely manner
  • Must have strong work ethic to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills while working on fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi task
  • Works with a sense of urgency, while engaging and listening to experts
  • Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment

Required Certifications

  • Windows or Linux Certifications
  • Security+ CE

Preferred Qualifications

  • Network+ CE
  • CCNA
  • Linux 7 for ACAS Administration
