This position is in support of the Department of State as a part of the Global IT Modernization Branch. The candidate will be responsible for the design and implementation of a multi-tenant private cloud.  The candidate will research, analyze, evaluate, and integrate as necessary the technologies required to deliver an IT environment to the bureaus in a cost effective and secure manner. The candidate will support the continuing goal of incorporating these innovative technologies into the Department’s equipment modernization program.

Primary Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and implement a multi-tenant solution for Overseas Posts using a private and/or hybrid cloud.
• Configuration of Red Hat OpenStack Platform running on VMware or equivalent components for an On-Prem Data Center.
• Develop the automation and orchestration for the cloud solution.
• Report to the Cloud Architect and Chief Engineer.
• Assist in the development of Enterprise policies and directives.
• Conduct Technical Exchange Meetings.
• Create test plans, installation guides, technical specifications, white papers as required.
• Communicate regularly to government POCs regarding project activities and status.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience
• Experience architecting, designing, and implementing Red Hat OpenStack Platform and virtual VMware Compute, Networking, and solutions for Data Center or large enterprises (10,000 users or more).
• Expertise with Red Hat OpenStack Platform running on VMware or equivalent.
• Experience with scripting and APIs for automation work.
• Experience migrating workloads to an On-Prem Cloud.
• Experience with On-Prem Virtualization for Networking.
• Knowledge of Linux for RHEL.
• Knowledge of VMware vSphere.

Required Clearance

• All candidates for consideration must have active Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain Top Secret clearance. 

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of NSX.
• Experience with distributed and shared storage (NetApp preferred).
• Data Protection experience.
• Experience leading system integration projects as the technical lead. 
• Department of State Experience.
