Description

SAIC is looking for a Director of Strategic Planning.  This person will be a key member of the leadership team within our Corporate Strategy team.  The Director of Strategic Planning will be responsible for developing and managing SAIC’s multi-year corporate and business planning efforts.  The successful candidate will work with leaders across the strategy, corporate development, finance, solution teams, and market-facing parts of the company to develop and maintain planning processes and execution governance. This position will report to our SVP of Strategy. 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Drive the Enterprise’s Top-line Strategic Planning Process. Drive development of the enterprise-wide corporate strategic planning process, generating a “north star” vision, shaping initiative implementation workstreams, and creating the long-term action plan
  • Effective execution of this function requires a two-way communication loop with equally important stakeholder groups spanning market leadership (e.g., customer-facing executives defining near-term needs and deal pipeline), Strategic Innovation and Growth leadership (e.g., executives shaping investment in emerging technologies, partnerships, and buying trends that might not exist yet), and internal Functions (e.g., executives responsible for business operations)
  • Conduct organizational and functional strategic reviews working with executives to assess progress of individual organizations / functions against multi-year action plan at regular intervals
  • Create a strategy-first culture by partnering with enterprise-wide executives to create tailored strategic narratives, linked to the enterprise strategic plan, that will propel success and enable focused investment areas within their groups 
  • Deliver tools (e.g., templates, tabletop exercise toolkits) and functional support (e.g., leadership meeting facilitation and roadmap development) that enable strategic planning to be at the core of their individual operations    
  • Forge strategic partnerships with other functions (e.g., marketing, corporate development, investor relations) to ensure investment choices (e.g., emerging technology adoption, acquisition targets, post-merger M&A, marketing campaigns, new market entry, and innovation focus areas) begin with / are aligned to the enterprise strategic plan
  • Work with the Market and Competitive Intelligence team to help shape market analyses and recommendations for enterprise and business development decisions
  • Development of executive presentations used for company leadership and external stakeholders (e.g., Board of Directors, industry events)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant business, technical, or professional field of study
  • More than 12 years of experience leading corporate strategic partnerships with focus on strategic, technology-focused companies pursuing government opportunities
  • Proven track record of successful establishment and adoption of strategic planning processes, tools, and evolved culture of strategic thinking
  • 10+ years of relevant experience working with federal focused business in defining its market-specific and industry-wide planning and governance
  • Proven ability to apply organizational design/development experience to support transforming organizational approaches to interdepartmental partnerships, ranging from bolstering maximizing business performance through aligning goals, objectives, and ROI
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and grow internal corporate relationships among executives
  • Proven ability to manage complex analyses spanning quantitative and qualitative data, delivering executive-level insights
  • Proven ability to set guidelines, criteria, and best-in-class competencies for strategy development
  • Proven ability to engage with and successfully influence customers, corporate leadership, and industry peers
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities, with specific attention to synthesizing trends, forecasts, and leading with a hypothesis-driven approach
  • Knowledge of Federal business acquisition process and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR)
  • Proficient with the use of business software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree preferred: MBA, or relevant Master’s Degree
  • Prior experience as a growth and/or strategy leader
  • Knowledge and/or experience in corporate strategy and development to include market entry, new business models in public sector, technology investment strategy, product management lifecycle
