We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Cloud / Cybersecurity Engineer to join our team for an exciting and challenging opportunity with SAIC.

As a Cloud Cyber Security Engineer you will serve as the SAIC knowledge expert of all security related for the NOAA Multi Cloud computing environment for Cloud based Infrastructure and solutions on AWS, Azure, Google and other Public Cloud and Government Cloud based infrastructures.

The Cloud Security Engineer position is responsible for designing, engineering, and implementing security solutions for IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS offerings in federal environments with a focus on private and public-sector customers requiring proven security models to protect their data.

Review and design Data Center and Cloud Networking (Software Defined and physical), propose and implement new solutions, oversee the security and compliance of Cloud based solutions (for leading public and Government Cloud providers like AWS, Azure and Google) in addition to helping maintain, supervise and troubleshoot any security issues and vulnerabilities for the existing Cloud Environment.

Working under the direction of the Project Manager, and a Lead Cloud Application Architect, and closely with Federal Agency IT and Networking personnel and stakeholders; this position requires excellent technical, customer service, and organizational skills to support security and compliance for all applicable Federal Government, Department of Commerce and applicable NOAA standards, regulations and requirements.  This position requires the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments. 

  • Architect Cloud based solutions to meet Security / Infrastructure and Use Case requirements for Federal Civilian, Department of Commerce and NOAA Agency Customers (Line offices) – solutions may include SSO / ICAM, CASB, VPC, Compliance with NIST and FedRAMP guidelines.
  • Evaluate customer current Cloud security posture and report on possible deficiencies.
  • Implement required changes as a result of changes to federal and state laws and regulations;
    Provide technical support for new and existing cloud initiatives and network and application and storage security systems standard.
  • Prepares security reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, and working closely with other SAIC team members and the government stakeholders.
  • Serve as the SME representing SAIC to the Government and providing expert input and guidance during meetings and various forums.
  • Develop custom, efficient, infrastructure cloud deployment architecture for AWS, Azure, and other cloud providers to satisfy cybersecurity guidelines and requirements.

Experience in creating and conveying to clients and team members the architecture for a project.  Is responsible for developing and implementing design choices to software and system solutions, including but not limited to: platforms, deployment platform and virtualized environment solutions. Experience in establishing and enforcing standards and practices.  Develops and implements solutions for the strategy and processes which will be used by NOAA to migrate applications and services to the Google cloud Platform (and Azure/AWS). Has hardware and software development experience and thorough knowledge of a variety of deployment platforms.

Client Facing Responsibilities:
Fills a role to build quality infrastructure solutions that meet the requirements and helps in providing support to production systems and respond to technical and environment related queries from clients.

Duties:

  • Works closely with the PM, Lead Cloud Architect, NOAA stakeholders and SAIC team to design, develop and implement Cloud based infrastructure and services to fulfill client requirements and provide ongoing support
  • Architects a Cloud Infrastructure solution using appropriate portfolio offerings with design elements that allow integration into client environment.
  • May refine and optimize infrastructure architectural models and creates architectural prototypes as required. Reviews the architectural artifacts and/or technology plans produced by other architects.
  • Adheres to appropriate architectural artifact requirements and cloud based architectural best practices.
  • Is responsible for the solution integrity within the assigned solution area for the engagement.
  • Coordinates with other SAIC and client resources to develop and support the Cloud based infrastructures and architecture.
  • Maintains knowledge of technologies, industry trends, standards and design techniques.
  • Complies with Program and Project Management responsibilities for documentation, reporting of activities, managing workflows, and being responsive to client priorities and requirements.
  • Reports to the Task Manager and the Program Manager and takes direction from them regarding daily tasks, priorities and assignments.
  • Responsible for quality of output produced and will work with the Quality Manager/Analyst on the team to report activities, track deliverables and produce deliverables as assigned by the Task Manager and/or the Program Manager.

Service Delivery Responsibilities

  • Fills an implementation Cloud Engineer role with in-depth portfolio related technology specialization to develop or refine infrastructure solution designs and interfaces with the client on all issues related to the design, implementation, testing and cutover of the solution.
  • Will contribute by designing, developing, testing and supporting Cloud based Cyber Security solutions, specifically in Google Cloud Platforms and/or AWS and Azure Cloud based platforms.
  • Works with client stakeholders to evaluate the solution requirements and supports the management and traceability of requirements during the engagement.
  • Interfaces to the client’s technical organization on solution implementation progress, technical issues, proper practices and technical requirements.
  • Works with client technical staff during the requirements definition and implementation to resolve issues.
  • Assumes accountability for the infrastructure solution technology components and the successful implementation. This include hands-on modeling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, prototyping and/or other efforts required to keep the project on a successful track.
  • Provides input on implementation status and changes to risks, estimates or schedule.
  • Collaborates with architect peers to efficiently resolve technical issues, improve implementation quality and share high quality information.
  • May monitor the performance of external service providers or subcontractors
    People Management, and support the Lead Cloud Architect and the Project Manager.

     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of experience or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications.
  • Implementation / compliance with NIST Cybersecurity Standards (800-53, 800-171) & FISMA, PCI-DSS, HIPAA Security Standards.
  • Network Application and Database Security hardening background, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Protocols, Networking Standards, Data analysis capabilities.
  • Implementation of Cyber Security tools in a hybrid cloud environment Vulnerability/ Network scanners, Firewalls, Intrusion prevention, Data loss prevention, Assessment tools.
  • Must be able to pass a High Risk / Moderate Risk Public Trust Clearance.
  • Civilian Agency and Defense security requirements, FedRAMP security requirements, FISMA security requirements, Experience in working with Federal Customers to meet compliance and Security needs, and working with industry leading cyber security and cloud engineering tools.

Target salary range: $145,001 - $155,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
