SAIC has an immediate need for a Physical Security Technician to support the NASA Integrated Communications Services (NICS) contract at NASA's Marshall Space Center in Huntsville, AL. The NICS contract provides high quality integrated communications services for secure voice, video and data solutions and services to NASA customers worldwide.  The NICS team has a vital role providing the physical security technology infrastructure that protects NASA’s people, property, and assets.

 Job Responsibilities:

• Assist other team members with installation and maintenance of video surveillance equipment including cameras, video encoders, and network video recorders
• Assist other team members with installation and maintenance of physical security equipment including electronic door locking hardware, badge readers, interfaces to external devices, turnstiles,  vehicle gates and barriers
• Record work performed and provide timely updates to documentation and on-line databases

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• High school degree or equivalent; some college preferred

Skills:

• Basic electronics technician skills including ability to read wiring diagrams and standards, check continuity, component installation and replacement, and update as-built documentation
• Safely install and test low-voltage cabling in and around doors, ceilings, and walls (including drilling door frames and fishing wire)
• Install, terminate, test, and label network cabling (Categories 5, 6, and 6a)
• Install, terminate, test, and label RG-59 coaxial cable

Desired Skills / Experiences:

• Experience installing surveillance cameras in elevated locations in commercial premises
• Prior vendor training provided by Axis, Pelco, Lenel, or Milestone
• Experience installing electronic door locking hardware (including electro-mechanical, magnetic, request-to-exit, open sensor, intrusion detection, and key override hardware) in commercial premises
• Prior government premises work experience at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center

Clearance:

• Secret clearance required

Certifications / Training:

Desired Education:

• User-level familiarization with software application including Microsoft 365 Suite, BMC Remedy, and Lenel OnGuard suite

Desired Certifications / Training:

• Lenel Certified Associate
• Prior physical security or video surveillance hardware vendor certifications
• NASA monitored medical and safety certification for the following task areas:  Aerial Lift Operator, Confined Space Entry, Ladder/Scaffolding, Foreign Object Damage, and Noise Area

Travel (if any):

• Some travel (<15%) may be required to for vendor training or to provide support at other NASA Centers
