SAIC is hiring for a Level 2 support Systems Administrator to join our team in support of work taking place for the US Army in Purcellville, VA. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the systems supporting a global implementation of UC Services including Skype for Business and MS Teams in a highly-virtualized environment. Must possess a good understanding of ITIL and Service Management concepts. Will be accountable for all production servers, networks, applications and services.  An active SECRET DoD clearance is required for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide day-to-day System Administration functions, including effective provisioning, installation/configuration, patching, operation and maintenance of systems hardware/software, network hardware/software, storage systems  
  • Support the development of specifications for systems, Windows Active Directory, storage, network, backups, and supporting infrastructure 
  • Operate and maintain Monitoring and Management tools like SCOM, SCCM, HP Operations Manager I, HP Network Node Manager I, NetScout nGenius, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Network Automation, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Data Center Automation, and BMC Remedy Service Management Suite 
  • Ability to analyze and assess computer/network architecture requirements and recommend optimal solutions 
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel 
  • Responsibility for the administration and support of the following platforms and components hosting the Skype for Business platform including the following: VMWare vCenter, VMWare Horizon View, Windows Server 2012, SQL, HP DL360 Class Servers, HP DL 380 Class Servers, HP Store SERV 8200, 8400, HP StoreOnce 3520, HP MSL 2024, 4048, HPE SN3000B and Micro Focus ESKM.  
  • Hardware support and troubleshooting of primarily Cisco and HP hardware, and virtualization support/troubleshooting in a VMWare environment 
  • Strong customer service and technical expertise to respond to clients and partners on the phone when remotely troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software related problems 
  • Analyze systems, storage, software, and network utilization problems using diagnostic and error recovery techniques and initiates corrective action 
  • Apply system updates, patches, and configuration changes 
  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the project team 
  • Perform scheduled tasks as needed to support our clients and company 
  • This position requires the ability to work a shift schedule and be part of an on-call rotation 
  • Manage accounts, network rights, and access to NE systems and equipment 
  • Support, monitor, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software IA problems pertaining to the NE 
  • Perform IA related customer support functions including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements for the NE 
  • Manage accounts, network rights, and access to NE systems and equipment 
  • Analyze system performance for potential security problems 
  • Configure, optimize, and test network servers, hubs, routers, and switches to ensure they comply with security policy, procedures, and technical requirements 
  • Ensure that hardware, software, data, and facility resources are archived, sanitized, or disposed of in a manner consistent with system security plans and requirements 
  • Work with other privileged users to jointly solve IA problems. Demonstrate proficiency in applying security requirements to an operating system for the NE or CE used in their current position. Implement applicable patches including IAVAs, IAVBs, and TAs for their NE.Implement response actions in reaction to security incidents. 
  • Comply with the security requirements set forth in the Security Plan and applicable directives for the safe and secure operation of the UC platform as outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy  
  • Have the requisite training to operate the UC platform and complete IA Training and review and sign the Acceptable Use Policy.  
  • Maintain positive physical control of the UC platform components within their areas of responsibility  
  • Ensure no information higher than the approved program classification level is processed by the UC platform   
  • Handle and secure the UC platform data according to the appropriate classification level 
  • Safeguard the UC platform from unauthorized transmissions of data (such as sending data without encryption), tampering with the UC platform hardware, or manipulating the resident and application software  
  • Report to the ISSM/ISSO or Program Manager any attempt to gain unauthorized access to Unclassified, Sensitive defense information, any failure, or any suspected defect which could lead to unauthorized disclosure of Unclassified, Sensitive information  
  • Report suspected (or actual) security violations or practices dangerous to security to the ISSM/ISSO or security manager  
  • Reviews the Access Control policy 
  • Maintains an understanding of Information Assurance (IA) policies, current 
  • Cybersecurity threats, and incident response reporting procedures to ensure the assets, and the information processed are protected from any actions which could jeopardize the UC platform’s ability to effectively and securely function 
  • Immediately notifies their ISSM/ISSO Personnel if they suspect their passwords or token cards have been compromised  
  • Takes DoD insider threat awareness training annually to recognize and report insider threats  
  • Reports all potential or malicious incidents immediately to the ISSM/ISSO If none of the aforementioned are available users contact the US-CERT (formerly CONUS and South RCERT) immediately  
  • Reviews the Media Protection Policy 
  • Marks and labels ALL UC media indicating the distribution limitations, handling caveats,and applicable security markings (if any) of the information  
  • Reviews the physical security plan and Security Assessment and Authorization policy 1.10.8 

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • 2+ years' related experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related discipline. 4 additional years of related experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. 
  • Meets IAT II Certification requirements - Security+ Certification or above.
  • Associate level Microsoft, Cisco, VMWare, or HP certification such as MCSA or CCNA 
  • 2+ years' experience with system administration with three or more of the following: Windows 2012 R2, 2016 OS, HP Storage Platform, HP DL360/DL380 Server Classes, VMWare Horizon View VDI, SCOM, SCCM, VMWare, SQL.
  • 2+ years’ experience of applied VMware Security 
  • Candidates must be able to work on-site at Federal Agency located in the Purcellville, VA area 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future 
  • Strong technical knowledge of Windows 2012 to include Active Directory as well as 
  • VMWare experience is required 
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of a range of computer and networking software and hardware systems and related technologies 
  • Experienced troubleshooting connectivity issues on servers, network devices, and government network environments 
  • Able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills 
  • Effective communicator, both oral and written 
  • Ability to manage demands with frequent changes or delays within a team environment. 
  • Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. 
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
