SAIC is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join our team. SAIC provides specialized engineering, analysis and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. We support the development of generation after next national security-related systems based in space, in the air and on the ground.
SAIC has an opening for an engineer to provide systems engineering and technical advisory services to an IC research and development (R&D) customer.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support research and development for the space community to include develop, model and simulate new satellite operations concepts.
- Leverage understanding of all customer baseline satellites including their intelligence collection sensors.
- Collaborate with other internal modeling and simulation groups.
- Help manage contracts for external modeling and simulation support as well as collaborate with external modelers.
- Lead one or more supporting SAIC modelers.
- Collaborate with a satellite development program office that is planning a first launch within a few years.
Qualifications
- Must have active TS/SCI w/poly
- Bachelor's degree in science discipline with 14+ years’ experience
- Experience within the past two years with writing software code in Python
- Experience with conceptual satellite bus design including at least three of the following:
- Orbits
- Attitude determination and control
- Propulsion
- Communications
- Solar power and batteries
- Concepts of operations
- Experience with conceptual design of at least one of following:
- Optical
- Radar
- Signals Intelligence Sensors
- Desired Experience
- PhD in engineering or science plus (9) or more years work experience
- Experience within the past two years with detailed modeling of satellite operations in Systems Tool Kit (STK) and/or MATLAB
- Experience with application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Reinforcement Learning in a simulation environment
- Good understanding of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
