SAIC is looking for a Scene Gen Engineer to support research and development for the United States Air Force Research Lab. The position will include generation of radio metrically accurate complex synthetic earth background imagery from a satellite perspective.  Goal is to evaluate current systems and design future objective systems. Understanding and use of the Fast Line-of-Sight Imagery for Target and Exhaust Signatures (FLITES) scene generation simulation or similar synthetic scene generation tool is ideal.

The ideal applicant should have an understanding and/or experience generating Visible/Infrared sensor imagery including:

• video game engines: Unreal or Unity
• terrain databases,
• cloud databases,
• atmospheric effects (e.g. MODTRAN and/or LEEDR)
• target modeling,
• material optical properties
• plume flowfield (SPF, CHARM, RPFM, CFD++) (e.g. missile plume), and
• sensor and target 3-DOF and 6-DOF flight dynamics file generation
• Infrared Radiometry
• EO/IR Sensor systems (Optics, Point Spread Function (PSF), Focal Plane Array, Readout Integrated Circuitry, spatial and temporal noise)
• Experience accessing and using Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) satellite imagery primarily for use in Simulation-Over-Live imagery generation
• Experience using HPCMP HPC systems is important

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance  
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Optical Engineering
• 5+ years of work experience
• Radiometry understanding/experience is required
• Visible/Infrared sensor system hands-on or evaluation experience is important
• FLITES, CHAMP, or similar scene generation simulation is ideal
• Linux experience a plus
• C/C++, Python, and MATLAB experience
• ZeMax experience
