SAIC has an opening for a Senior Project Manager. The position is in Huntsville, AL on the NASA Integrated Communications Services contract. A successful candidate will be part of a DevSecOps team responsible for the conversion of NASA’s traditional campus networks into a state-of-the-art Software-Defined Network during an amazing period in NASA’s history. These networks support NASA’s Artemis Program (which will return Americans to the moon) and the Mars Exploration Progam among many others.
Job Description:
- Senior Project Manager responsible for implementing IT Projects in support of NASA for typically multi-million multi-year NASA Agency projects
- Advisory or management support for other project managers and technical teams
- Overall responsibilities include oversight and responsibility of schedule, cost, risk, and resources using various delivery concepts such as Agile, DevOps, and NASA’s NPR7120.7 methodology
- Directly interface with NASA Communications Program and NASA Project Stakeholders throughout each part of the project lifecycle
- Plan and implement actions by the project team to define and implement technical baseline and meet quality requirements for project products and services
- Serve as primary project customer interface providing status reporting and project documentation
- Responsible for directing the work for the project team and management of project technical, schedule, and associated fiscal year budgets including labor, travel, hardware, software, and ODCs
- Receive assignments in the form of objectives and establish goals to meet objectives
- Define or contribute to the project baseline then execute the project to comply with baseline requirements
- Manage risk, customer relationships, and program staffing
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and escalate challenges to SAIC leadership
- Support business development and program staff management
- Identifies key resources to manage and execute to the project baseline
- Identifies and analyzes moderate variances, and defines corrective actions
- Leads internal cross-functional team
- Uses standard, well-defined processes, procedures, techniques, or tools
- Possesses leadership and management skills that require very little feedback from supervisors
- Provides strategic guidance to the team
- Escalates and resolves project issues
- Performs performance reviews, compensation-related actions, and staffing and hiring recommendations
- Contributes to a strategic BD plan to protect current program and expand account offerings
- Provides significant elements of recompete capture strategy
- Provide program leadership and guidance in DevOps concepts and Agile methods
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more of related experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience
- 4 years of additional experience accepted in leiu of degree.
Clearance:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Publice Trust Clearance.
Certifications:
Required Skills:
- 10 + years’ experience supporting NASA IT Requirements
- 5 + years direct personnel management experience
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Excellent team building and coaching skills
- Strong customer/stakeholder relationship experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT Technologies and associated Project Management
- Experience in large enterprise IT architecture solution delivery
- Ability to complete difficult, complex, and sometimes partially specified assignments
- Subject Matter Expertise in developing solutions to achieve cost savings and architectural improvements
- Must be able to work with System and Network Engineers to clearly define project scope and help facilitate the project deployment including stakeholder and Engineering reviews
- Some business travel may be required

- NASA NPR 7120.7 project management experience for complex projects
- Network and Applications background
- Experience and background on multiple NASA I3P Programs
