Job Description


SAIC is looking for a Remote Software Engineer Lead in support of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Integrated Technical Services (HITS) task order contract at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. This is a Remote / Virtual / Work from Home position.  The Software Engineer Lead will lead a small team of software developers.


In support of the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Integrated Technical Services (HITS) task order contract, Team SAIC provides program management and technical support necessary to advance the services, capabilities, infrastructure, and technologies in the HPCMP, Department of Defense (DoD) Supercomputing Resource Centers (DSRC). Team SAIC is looking for a software manager/development lead who will provide leadership and guidance to a team of approximately 15 people.  In their role, they will be responsible for providing oversight and strategic focus to develop, sustain, upgrade, and sunset user facing and infrastructure SW tools and solutions across the HPCMP.  This will include:


  • Establishing development and sustainment practices for each application area based on DevSecOps principles as applied to a DoD Secure Application Development environment, while maintaining a consistent development strategy across all areas
  • Selecting and leading the deployment of tools to facilitate DevSecOps development practices and provide a consistent platform for all activities
  • Implementing and managing a process for full Software Lifecycle Management from initial requirements definition through development, sustainment, enhancement, and decommissioning
  • Coordinating with the customer to identify, prioritize, and select software projects
  • Championing large- and small-scale projects to implement, update, and sustain infrastructure software capabilities in the HPCMP, mentoring development team leads as needed to accomplish project objectives
  • Supervising a distributed team, providing administrative support and performance evaluations for all team members
  • Mentoring the leads of the application area teams, providing advice and recommendations for personal and team development activities



Eduation and Experience:

  • High School diploma and thirteen (13) years or more related experience; OR Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; OR Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; OR PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience
  • Must be a US Citizen and currently possess a secret clearance
  • Experience leading Software development efforts across a distributed/virtual team with multiple concurrent projects
  • Experience with DevSecOps, Agile, and/or waterfall methodologies
  • Knowledge of DoD Secure Application Development and other related STIGs and security practices for performing software development in a secure DoD environment
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop innovative solutions that leverage resources and meet customer needs effectively
  • Excellent customer interaction skills including written and verbal communication
  • Team oriented individual capable of multi-tasking in a dynamic, demanding environment
  • Organizational skills to balance and prioritize work in a dynamic work environment, and persistence to follow-through on tasks in the face of obstacles

 Desired Skills:

  • PMP and/or Agile Certification is a plus but not required
  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills with the ability to manage competing project demands
  • Experience using Project Management Institute (PMI) project management principles and practices
  • ServiceNow Certifications, to include Foundation, Administrator, and Developer courses


  • May require occasional travel (10-20%) eventually after COVID threat is eliminated
