SAIC is actively hiring a Senior Principal Systems Engineer with an active secret clearance in El Paso, TX. Develops static and dynamic design and analysis of systems, equipment and packages.  Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs.  Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication.  Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation.  Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors.   Works under general direction on routine work.   May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.  Follows established procedures.  Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.  Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources. Primarily internal company contacts.  Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Live in El Paso and travel to ACF or Viscount Site for work.
  • Attend Daily Tag Up meeting and report status and daily activities with Operations Leads
  • Using and applying technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
  • Receiving assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives
  • Directing established guidelines, procedures and policies
  • Lead the development of the local Engineering Team to acquire and utilize Model Based Engineering Tools and set up Integrated Data Environment linking all the tools for collaboration with partner teams local, SAIC internal, and with teaming partners externally
  • Support Engineering Review Boards presenting or reviewing designs
  • Support Procurement and Logistics tasks for responsible programs
  • Tasks include guiding younger engineers through their tasks and reviewing designs.
  • Working proposals for future work as requested and required.
  • Developing Test Requirements, Supporting Tests and Test Reports on projects under way.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and fourteen (14) years of experience; Master's Degree and twelve (12) years of experience 
  • Two or more years’ experience with Model Based System Engineering tools implementation and application to military environment .

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in the following Digital Engineering Programs: Aras Minerva, DOORS Next, Cameo Enterprise Architect, Satellite TooKit-STK, ANSYS High Frequency Structure Simulation-HFSS, SolidWorks, ACAD
  • Systems Engineering or Military Experience in the following areas:
  • Military C5ISR equipment usage, implementation, and integration into military and civilian platforms.
  • Experience with electrical engineering power both with AC, DC, battery and charging systems to include power designs for power generation (generators, alternators, solar, etc) both single and three phase support.
  • Power Converter Design
  • Power Distribution
  • General electrical hardware\cabling knowledge (AWG, GFCI, Fuses, breakers, etc.)
  • Electrical hardware diagnostic skillset (hardware functionality, fault isolation)
  • Experience with RF and wireless networking. Preferred experience in the military tactical radio and networking.
  • Internet of Things (IOT) and sensor both civilian and military network integration and implementation planning.

  • Cyber Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA)
  • MIL-STD 810 DoD Test Methods Standards
  • MIL-STD 202 DoD Test Methods Standards Elec. Parts

  • DoD Risk Management Framework
