SAIC is seeking a Senior Supportability Engineer to provide support to the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Ground Vehicle Systems Center (CCDC GVSC), located at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan

 

NOTE: This position is temporarily work from home / remote / virtual work as part of a virtual team due to COVID-19.  Will return to the office in Warren, MI after COVID-19 threat has passed.

 

Job Description:

 

The Supportability Engineer will be responsible for influencing technology development by incorporating supportability aspects into the development process to ensure supportable product.  The successful candidate will use their experience in reliability, supportability, system fault analysis, life cycle maintenance, and integrated product support (IPS) to support the creation of supportable product designs and plans.

 

The Supportability Engineer will have experience in the defense and/or automotive industry in the following areas:  

  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)
  • Prognostics and Predictive Maintenance (PPMx)
  • Maintainability/Maintenance Engineering
  • Design for Supportability concepts
  • Knowledge of Logistics

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring combat and tactical vehicle designs are compliant with supportability requirements.  This will include development of requirements for accessibility, sustainability and supportability. 
  • Working with a development team to ensure the logistic requirements are achieved in the design and presented in design reviews.
  • Developing plans for reliability centered maintenance that will be tested and refined through prototype configurations.
  • Conducting Product Supportability Analyses (PSA) to develop logistics products that establish maintainability characteristics of the system.  These analyzes will use reliability, maintainability and FMECA data to develop Maintenance Support Plans, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis, and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA).
  • Conducting Integrated Product Support analysis and plans covering areas like the following:
  • Maintenance support planning
  • Maintenance concept
  • Task allocation
  • Troubleshooting procedures
  • Repair procedures
  • Unique support equipment
  • Technical publications
  • Logistics Management Information (LMI) data
  • Training
  • Training devices
  • Human Factors Engineering (HFE) aspects
  • Embedded diagnostics and prognostics
  • Diagnostic procedures in the technical manual
  • The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with curiosity to learn and apply new principles and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical degree with at least 10 years of professional experience as a Supportability or Logistics Engineer
  • Defense vehicles and/or Automotive experience
  • At least 4 years’ experience in defining and applying reliability centered maintenance processes for supportability in automotive related engineering discipline
  • Experience in a dynamic work environment where technology development is influenced by incorporating supportability aspects into the development process to ensure product life cycle success
  • Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance
