Job Description


About the Position: SAIC is seeking a Systems Engineer for PMA-234, Airborne Electric Attack Program Office, at NAVAIR in Patuxent River, MD.  Avionics Engineering Support will be responsible for providing avionics systems expertise and technical support to the IPT.  Teams being supported are comprised of government, CSS, and Prime/Sub representatives, and span all aspects of program operations. 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide engineering support and expertise for integration of the NGJ system with the EA-18G cockpit functions & controls, cockpit displays, mission computers, aircraft recorders, fiber channel functionality, and aircraft data bus functionality and inter connectivity.
  • Work with flight test teams to address, and provide solutions to, system deficiencies
  • Review and make recommendations on engineering related resources and requirements.
  • Provide technical inputs in the creation and review of all engineering documents (ex. SOW, CDRL, technical proposals, SETR planning, technical maturity, etc.) for accuracy and compliance with requirements.
  • Coordinate SETR events with the Contractor(s) as assigned by the APMSE.  
  • Coordinate meetings as requested that require participation from Contractor(s) and/or the PMA domestic team.
  • As required, participate in varying levels of technical reviews either as a presenter or support SME.
  • Coordinate with multiple disciplines as required to prepare or review the technical documentation, proposals and investigations, analyses, needed to support the program, ECPs, requirements/requirement changes, testing, and other appropriate documentation.
  • Review, analyze and track specifications and data packages; review suitability/supportability documentation; review and provide technical recommendations on ECPs and Technical Directives; and participate in technical working groups to resolve any engineering issues. Assist with the development of appropriate engineering documentation, formal letters, informal memos and other general correspondence.
  • Facilitate communications across all stakeholders (PMA IPTs, USN, Contractor, etc.)
  • Maintain any unique schedules or action trackers as dictated by the APMSE.


Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline and 5-10 years of relevant Systems Engineering experience.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders both verbally and in writing. 
Clearance Requirement: US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with electronic warfare and avionics engineering
  • Prior Systems Engineering APMSE support experience desired.
  • Experience with one or more of NAVAIR's Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR), Systems Engineering Transformation (SET) initiative, Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) processes, and Airworthiness/Cybersafe processes.
