Description
SAIC’s Chief Data Office (CDO) is seeking a skilled and experienced Data Architect to join the CDO Data Governance team and lead enterprise data architecture efforts for internal business, IT and data organizations.
This leading candidate should be a respected leader who works well with others, can influence and guide others in challenging situations, and can be instrumental in planning, designing and developing solutions that will satisfy the requirements for SAIC’s Data Strategy. This person will report to the Chief Data Officer.
The qualified architect:
Has led design and development for Reporting, Analytics, Cataloging and Master Data programs in the recent past for large enterprise(s).
Works closely with the Chief Data Officer, the Data Governance Organization and IT leadership to create and manage alignment between business data and IT teams.
Works closely with data and technology leaders to identify solutions that preserve and enhance the value and utility of company data and information.
Facilitates discussion around the construction of business process and data models, which may include technology, business capabilities, value-streams and processes and other key deliverables for the business data architecture.
Roles & Responsibilities
The business data architect will demonstrate competencies across several key dimensions:
Creates strategies, plans, deliverables and business and technical artifacts for internal organizations to support technology initiatives, operational changes and investments in process and systems to create targeted business outcomes, including:
Master Data and Meta Data analyses
Cataloging of enterprise meta data
An enterprise Canonical Data Model
A registry and repository of Systems Data Models
DDL (Database Definition Language) scripts
Systems and Meta Data analyses
Supports Strategy Formulation
Responsible for development of data management, data model, naming convention and database design standards.
Continuously evaluates and develops architected data and information flows throughout the enterprise to ensure conformance with Data Policy and Standards.
Identifies authoritative sources of data and information and maintains a model of Critical Data Elements and Primary Keys.
Facilitates development of the enterprise data architecture, including definition of data requirements, selection of data management products and services, technology and business cases development, and an innovation portfolio and target data operating model development.
Enables Organizational Change and Investments
Collaborates with enterprise stakeholders developing data strategy & innovation.
Constructs and maintains deliverables, including process and data models, proposals and target operating frameworks that demonstrate how to move the business toward realizing its strategic goals and targeted business outcomes.
Develops a toolbox of data architecture tools, methods and deliverables to help business leaders identify and make IT investment decisions.
Bridges the Gap Between Business and IT
Provides internal management consultancy services to business leaders, business units and lines of business, helping them with design thinking, business modeling, ecosystem modeling, innovation management, IT investment analysis, and operating model design.
Experience facilitating and leading multi-disciplined, high-performance fusion teams.
Consults with technical subject matter experts to develop technical solutions. Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other business processes and system priorities.
Participates in development and application of standards and minimal viable architectures through the EA governance model.
