JOB DESCRIPTION:  Works as part of a System Integration and Operations team with a customer in the AWS cloud to design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data communication activities.  Prepares the analysis of short/long term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission and signaling.  May conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies as well as internal studies of network performance and traffic analysis.  May evaluate new technology. Duties may include providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture; providing information for hardware and software selection; and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND ABILITY: Entry-level knowledge of basic IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, and the OSI model, especially layers 2 thru 4.  VPN, Cisco ASA or other firewall knowledge and experience is a plus.  General knowledge of other related disciplines. Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives.     

PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.  Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.  

FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under specific direction.  Determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Qualifications

Associates degree and two (2) years or more work experience; or Bachelors degree and (0) years work experience.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or other equivalent certification is desired.
