SAIC has an immediate opening for a Data Scientist that is looking to be a Team Lead. The ideal candidate for this role is a skilled data scientist, engineer, or software developer with experience leading a team of data scientists and software developers to research and develop new analytical techniques and tools. The Team Lead should possess an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness since they will apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts.  


If you are selected for this role, you will be responsible for working closely with Customer and Program Management to establish strategic plans and objectives in designing the project’s overall machine learning, artificial intelligence, and software development strategy. Here are some other things you will do:


  • Manage and mentor team members to complete project tasks on time
  • Translate mission needs into an end-to-end analytical approach to achieve results
  • Collaborate with other scientists and domain experts on the team 
  • Determine the appropriate analytics based on the data and the desired outcomes, using techniques including feature detection, statistics, data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, natural language processing, and business intelligence
  • Interpret the validity of results and communicate the meaning of those results
  • Understand data wrangling, analytics, and visualization software and programming languages, including analytics methods for big data

Qualifications

  • Must have a current/active TS/SCI with Polygraph 

  • Minimum of 20 years of overall relevant technical experience, or 15 years of experience plus a Master’s Degree in a relevant field

  • Must have minimum of 10 years of experience applying data science and engineering practices

  • 3 or more years of experience in the Intelligence Community

  • Experience as a team lead or manager strongly preferred, but not required

  • Ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines

  • Experience coding with Python

  • Ability to exercise strong analytical judgement in framing the problem and selecting the right tools, while avoiding unnecessary complexity. Ability to analyze, prioritize, and  effectively problem solve, synthesize large amounts of data/information

  • Strong communication and briefing skills; ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

  • Experience writing technical intelligence reports

  • Experience designing and maintaining software applications and data storage in a cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP) 

  • Experience with agile/scrum project management
