Description
SAIC is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) Experimental Scientist (Electronic engineer, experimental physicist, or similar) to join our team at Fort Belvoir, Virginia to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career. This position provides Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Nuclear Technologies Department, developing state-of-the-art capabilities to ensure DoD weapon systems and facilities are hardened and survivable against the effects of nuclear weapons.
The successful candidate will analyze nuclear weapon effects on weapons and communications systems; support development, application and integration of nuclear environmental and effects protection standards; support development of electromagnetic (EM) electronic system effects tools; and provide technical guidance on EMP and high power electromagnetic (HPEM) test planning, witnessing testing and data analysis; and EMP and HPEM hardening solutions.
The candidate will assist with development and execution of a portfolio of software, hardware and testing projects; research new DoD EMP survivability requirements, conduct market research for qualified performers, and translate technology areas and concepts to meaningfully to others on the DTRA and DoD nuclear survivability missions. Provides advice and facilitates government acquisition actions by writing statements of work, evaluating proposals, and monitoring contractor performance. Assists the government in aligning the portfolio for rapid transition of emerging tools and analytical capabilities to key end-users.
