Job Description


SAIC is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as an Engineering Technician for the Compact Rapid Attack Weapon (CRAW) program in Bedford, Indiana.  Prospective candidates must demonstrate in-depth experience with Undersea Warfare Combat Systems and Weapons.  The candidate will support the updating of the configuration baseline that meets performance specification requirements while leveraging existing Government design and use developed manufacturing procedures to build test units for qualification and performance testing.

Location & Travel: This will be a long term opportunity in Bedford, IN. However, the first 6 months of the contract will require you to work onsite in University Park, Pennsylvania. During this period, you will work closely with the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. After that, production will begin in Bedford, IN where it will continue for the
remainder of the contract.

This position is contingent upon award, anticipated in Spring 2021. 


Specific roles and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct support to the lead electrical and mechanical engineers on technical issues.
  • Prepare variance documentation as required to address TDP or manufacturing issues.
  • Support efforts to resolve performance issues encountered in manufacturing or testing.
  • Installation and testing of electrical circuits, sensors, and measurement systems, assuring adherence to proper standards and schematic or wiring diagrams.
  • Neatly route, terminate and dress wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Perform sensor calibrations using function generators, dead weight testers and other calibration sources.



  • General experience of five (5) or more years preferred with fabrication, troubleshooting, and electrical maintenance or repair.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some technical training such as an associate’s degree or completion of a certificate program in a technical or engineering discipline is desired, but not required.


  • Must be highly motivated and have excellent problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment while completing tasks in an unsupervised and self-directed fashion.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and effectively communicate with the team and customers, both verbally and through E-Mail.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Familiarity with AC and DC voltage concepts, troubleshooting and measurement.
  • Familiarity with electrical test and calibration equipment such as digital multi-meters (DMMs) to measure voltage, amperage, impedance, and verify continuity.
  • Proficient soldering skills (through-hole, and solder-cup connectors).
  • Knowledge in reading electrical schematics and assembly drawings and the ability to assist in updating electrical schematics and assembly drawings when required to document as-built configurations or propose changes.
  • Some computer skills including basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word in order to document work and read wire lists.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Acceptance for Cables and Wire Harness Assemblies
  • J-STD-001 Solder Certification
