Job Description:  SAIC is hiring an Avionics Technician in Patuxent River, MD to support NAVAIR PMA-209 TACCOM/ARC-210. For this role we are looking for an engineering technician with avionics technical communications experience supporting the ARC-210 family of radios for systems engineering, integration support and program training.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide Systems Engineering and Integration support to NAVAIR (PMA-209)
  • Review technical documentation in support of the ARC-210 Radio
  • Meet with clients to determine system requirements
  • Monitor and resolve issues with manufacturing, production, and testing of AN/ARC- 210 equipment at government and contractor labs
  • Provide TELCOM, email or in person support to customer concerns
  • Identify and resolve integration issues identified by the customer
  • Conduct technical review of vendor delivered Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and contract data deliverables (CDRL) for the ARC-210 radios. Screen all ECO proposals for vulnerabilities and make recommendations to support informed decisions on ECO approval.
  • Offer engineering expertise specific to airborne communications systems and witness hardware, software, and environmental certification testing conducted at production facilities              
  • Perform self-inspections and investigations as required by government regulations and participate in customer audits and COMSEC inspections                               
  • Maintain accountability for COMSEC items, documentation and conduct monthly destruction of expired COMSEC Keys
  • Provide and perform a wide variety of security related operations including, but not limited to: personnel security, CCI (Cryptographic Controlled Items) equipment security, document control, and physical security.
  • Perform security audits IAW established procedures.
  • Order Cryptographic keys in time to acquire and distribute new key before expiration dates of current key
  • Interpret and work from schematics, drawings, manuals, handbooks and technical specifications
  • Assist in the formal and informal ARC-210 Training to a diverse audience such as operators and maintainers (Contractors, Military and GOV personnel)
  • Review and develop system test plans, system test reports, analysis of system documentation and Engineering Change Orders, technical white papers, Integration Support for ARC-210 radios on airborne platforms, and assist in the training of Satellite Communications protocols, DAMA communications, Integrated Waveform (IW), Link 4A, Link 11, COMM Encryption, SATURN, HaveQuick, SINCGARS, aircraft bus control via 1553, Ethernet, Program Loader Set (PLS) used to upload radio software and SKL (Simple Key Loader) loading.
  • Serve as Alternate COMSEC Manager of COMSEC account at the contractor facility and ARC-210 Training Lab Assistant.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years or more experience; Will also consider a High school diploma and 6 years of experience in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Active Secret clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) clearance
  • Familiarity with test and radio support equipment; Operational experience in the use and maintenance of the ARC- 210 Family of Radios a plus.   
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to interface with a variety of GOV, Contractors and Industry personnel
  • Experience with Crypto Key Management, and EKMS key transfer practices
  • Military Aviation Technical experience a plus.
  • Experience as a COMSEC Custodian a plus.
  • Understanding of VHF and UHF waveforms used in DoD aircrafts a plus
  • Experience with legacy and Software Defined Radios (SDR) with Embedded Communication Security (COMSEC) devices plus.
