SAIC is seeking qualified candidates to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. As the lead agent for M&S within the USAF, AFAMS gathers requirements, seeks out potential solutions, and integrates legacy and emerging M&S solutions across the USAF and the DoD. The USAF has an M&S initiative that focuses on providing simulation and synthetic training as the critical capability to augment live training, act as an enabler for critical decision-making, and enhance human performance. In the current resource constrained environment, demand for M&S rises with the continuously evolving need for operational readiness and mission preparedness across the USAF, DoD, and with coalition partners. AFAMS focuses on providing innovative M&S services as the key to meeting this demand.

The role of this position is to support the Simulator Common Architecture Requirements and Standards (SCARS) team at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. The Software Systems Engineer will:

  • The contractor will update a comprehensive Configuration Management (CM) plan (and other related documentation as needed) that accounts for configuration identification, control, audits, accounting, and data management.
  • The contractor will provide briefings and documentation that describe configuration status and track implementation of configuration changes.
  • The contractor shall work with the SECB, simulator program teams to provide Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analyses and recommendations on the SCARS activities to include analyses of proposals during source selection.
  • Analyses will identify supportability issues, help define SCARS equipment and software support, and recommend improvements to logistics support.  
  • The contractor shall update the Enterprise Life Cycle Support Strategy for SCARS to include strategies for new prime contract, “Affiliate”, and “Partner” simulator programs.
  • The contractor will develop clear delineated responsibilities for SCARS “Prime”, “Affiliate”, and “Partner” roles.
  • The contractor shall update Product Support Lifecycle products required by AFI 63-101 to document the SCARS “Prime” fielding and support strategy and identify product support changes needed to existing “Affiliate” and “Partner” Product support strategy/documentation to align with the SCARS “Prime” interfacing capability and support strategy. 
  • The contractor will develop out-year budget requirements to sustain the SCARS Prime equipment/software and changes to “Affiliate” and “Partner” systems.
  • The contractor shall develop Product Support update charts for presentation (e.g., at IPR, PMR, Execution Reviews) to reflect the status of Product Support activities. 
  • The contractor will document proposed changes and impacts to existing programs resulting from planned SCARS implementations.

Qualifications

The following skills are required:

  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

A Secret security clearance is required for this position.
