SAIC is seeking an exceptional individual to support the Air Force's next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition.  We are seeking a Nuclear Effects Engineer with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.  This is a great opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and challenging development and acquisition efforts in the DoD with a great company.  This position is located at Hill AFB, Utah.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct Nuclear Hardness and Survivability analysis for various aspects of the GBSD system.
  • Review proposed designs for Nuclear Hardness and Survivability considerations
  • Providing support to programmatic and technical briefings, reports and other related documentation.  This team member will regularly integrate, coordinate and engage with the customer and fellow Weapon System Effectiveness teammates.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related fields of Engineering or Physics with 5+ years of related experience.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience in neutron and photon transport, nuclear physics to include fission, fusion and radioactive decay
  • An understanding of the mechanisms that cause the hydrodynamic shock wave and fireball associated with a nuclear detonation
  • An understanding of transient electromagnetic phenomena associated with a nuclear detonation to include High Altitude EMP (HEMP), Source Region EMP (SREMP) and System Generated EMP (SGEMP).
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic coupling to electronics

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with DoD 5000.01 acquisition
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Previous ICBM experience
  • Programming experience with languages such as Fortran, C++, Python and Matlab
