SAIC is looking for a Payload Integration and Test Engineer to support a dynamic program in Redondo Beach, CA.  This position requires an active TS/SCI with Poly.

 

This position requires a payload engineer with technical expertise in spacecraft payload design, integration, and test.  The selected candidate will be an integral participant in spacecraft payload requirements development, design analysis, spacecraft integration, and requirement verification.  Key areas of focus include performance analysis, system integration, testing, and impact evaluations.  Candidate should be experienced in the design & integration of satellite payloads and knowledgeable of space system development and space vehicle development.  The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:

  • The Payload Integration and Test Engineer will be familiar with space systems ground support and flight hardware acquisitions.  The successful candidate will provide on-site, direct support for major program acquisitions.  Activities leverage an understanding of full life cycle system design and development through system test, delivery, installation and sell-off, and focuses on hardware development, testing, analysis, and requirements verification.
  • The successful candidate will participate in factory and launch base activities such as witnessing payload performance tests at all levels and providing feedback to government and team members, acting as the government's eyes and ears at the factory, attending engineering review boards, and participating in working groups.  The candidate will attend SPO meetings and perform other duties as specified by branch or division management, as needed.
  • Tasks include:  providing feedback on status; process improvements and recommendations on best way forward; participation in document reviews (test procedures, design, management, integration and installation plans; participation and witnessing of tests and installations; performing requirements verification and tracking.
  • Provide support to launch and satellite on-orbit test as required by the customer
  • Identify and assess emerging risks; develop and evaluate proposed burn-down plans
  • Assess and support factory integration and test activities
  • Attend branch meetings as appropriate at the request of the customer to coordinate support activities
  • Provide technical evaluation of accommodation efforts in contractor Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Attend contractor milestone reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, pre-test, pre-ship, and other meetings) to provide technically based recommendations regading satisfaction of review entrance and exit criteria
  • Support factory integration and test activities
  • Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft subsystem subject matter experts
  • Advise and mentor USG ITL branch personnel regarding payload subsystem design elements
  • Other duties as specified by the customer

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.
