SAIC is looking for a Satellite Systems Engineer to support a dynamic program in Chantilly, Virginia. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Poly to start.  

 

Overview:

 

Represent Government in review of developer modeling, analysis, verification, and test associated with space vehicle power, thermal, and mechanical (including dynamics) design as well as mass properties for multi-satellite constellation. Support the Government in evaluating development contractor satellite design trade study results.

 

 

 

Position Key Duties/Responsibilities include:

 

  • Participate in developer-sponsored systems engineering forums (working groups and boards) to ensure program office equities are preserved

  • Monitor developer activities and identify potential issues requiring leadership intervention

  • Review developer technical documents for appropriate, accurate content

  • Evaluate developer-proposed launch options for compliance with established satellite requirements

  • Assess compliance of satellite interfaces with approved ICDs, standards, and developer command media

  • Evaluate developer-supplied verification evidence for satisfaction of functional and performance requirements

  • Work with contractor and government teams to resolve hardware and documentation issues

  • Evaluate development contractor space vehicle Design Trade Study results and assess potential impacts and risks

  • Review system-level RFCs to determine impact on developer program

  • Develop RFPs for changes in developer technical scope; provide Tech Eval of contractor proposals

  • Provide technical support for follow-on RFP development and competitive source selection

  • Travel cross-country for one week, six times per year

 

 

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Capable of working autonomously, with little government oversight

  • B.S. degree in a relevant technical field (engineering or physics, Aerospace Engineering preferred)

  • 5 years or more experience working in a government program office

  • 5 years or more experience in formal requirements, design, verification, and/or interface definition for ACAT 1A systems

  • Current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with IBM DOORS Requirements Management Tool

  • Familiarity with NRO organizations and processes

  • 5 years or more experience in National Security Space (preferably NRO)

  • 10 years or more experience in general space systems engineering

  • INCOSE SEP certification

  • M.S. degree in a relevant technical field (engineering or physics)
