Location: San Diego, CA

SAIC is looking for a TS/SCI cleared Software Systems Engineer candidate familiar with DOD Acquisition processes and manned and unmanned vehicles software integration. The software systems engineering position and associated work assists with the implementation of software integration functions for a C-ISR Program of Record within the Program Executive Office, Command, Control, Computers, Communications, and Intelligence (PEO C4I). The program is a CNO-directed mission critical system. Job duties and responsibilities may include any of the following:

Support software development and integration efforts while adhering to government guidance for strategy, planning, documentation, and implementation.

Provide software engineering support that follows industry standards including integration policies and documentation.

Evaluate system software requirements and derive related measurable performance criteria.

Work to define software system integration onto manned and unmanned vehicles; specifically software interoperability requirements. This will require refinement of software architecture(s) to meet operability needs on manned and unmanned vessels.

Work proficiently on complex technical problems and seek solutions for consideration.

Conduct software engineering activities based on sound engineering practices, fleet experience and acquisition feasibility.

Elicit and refine customer-derived requirements.

Learn and adopt new software technologies to assist with the integration of custom software, software patching, and third party components into system releases.

Provide technical guidance and assist the Lead Engineer (LE) and Assistant Program Manager (APM) regarding software system strategies.

Periodically review Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) and apply safeguards to the system to ensure compliance.

Investigate software installation, functionality, and configuration related issues to determine root cause and assist with developing fixes.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. 4 additional years of experience acceptable in lieu of degree.

Understands software engineering concepts and related systems engineering processes.

Knowledge of DOD/ U.S. Navy acquisition documents e.g., Capabilities Development Documents (CDD) and Capabilities Production Documents (CPD). Knowledge of DoD/U.S. Navy acquisition processes.

Required Skills: CompTIA Security+ Certification, Agile software development, Ability to operate both independently and without direct supervision and in a collaborative software development lab environment, MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Desired Skills and Certifications: Able to attain CSWF and IAT Level II Certifications, Demonstrated technical writing and briefing, Understanding PEO C4I, NAVWAR, US Navy C4I systems.
