Job Description


SAIC is seeking qualified candidates to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program.

AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and training and analysis standards that support the US Air Force (USAF), Department of Defense (DoD), and mission partners requiring these capabilities to support the Warfighter in full-spectrum operations. As the lead agent for M&S within the USAF, AFAMS gathers requirements, seeks out potential solutions, and integrates legacy and emerging M&S solutions across the USAF and the DoD. The USAF has an M&S initiative that focuses on providing simulation and synthetic training as the critical capability to augment live training, act as an enabler for critical decision-making, and enhance human performance. In the current resource constrained environment, demand for M&S rises with the continuously evolving need for operational readiness and mission preparedness across the USAF, DoD, and with coalition partners. AFAMS focuses on providing innovative M&S services as the key to meeting this demand.

The role of this position is to support the National Guard Bureau (NGB) in San Antonio, TX. The Logistician will:

  • Directing, developing, and performing of logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, and evaluating the logistical actions required to support a specified mission, weapons system, or other designated program
  • Coordinate with NGB A5/A3 leadership to gather, identify, analyze, prepare, review, and manage logistic requirements and requirements documentation resulting from documents, interviews, technical meetings, and technical exchange
  • Coordinate with NGB A5/A3 A5 and A3 leadership in identifying the specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program
  • Identify all activities that will be involved in providing needed logistical support supporting the Air National Guard (ANG) Mission Training Engineering Center (MTEC) operations
  • Integrate the actions required of each activity into a comprehensive logistics plan in support of or to be incorporated into overall program plans
  • Monitor progress toward meeting the logistics plan and to identify the cause and impact of delays or other problems (varying degrees of responsibility for taking actions to prevent or overcome such problems may also be included)
  • Adjust plans and schedules for all related actions as required by delays or changes to logistics requirements
  • Evaluate plans for and provision of logistical support for feasibility, efficiency, and economy, and to develop alternatives when required
  • Determine detailed requirements within available or allocated resources, for funds, manpower, facilities, equipment, supplies, and services
  • Develop processes for the procurement, production, storage, distribution, maintenance, transportation, utilization, and disposal of material
  • The procurement of or design and construction, operation, maintenance, and disposal of facilities
  • Protect and control proprietary materials


The following skills are required:

  • 5 + years of Logistics or Inventory Management
  • 4 year degree in Supply Chain Management or similar field of study
  • Bachelors and fifteen (15) years or more of related experience; Masters and thirteen (13) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience

 A Secret security clearance is required for this position.
