We are currently seeking motivated and customer oriented Applications Engineers to begin a rewarding and challenging career with SAIC.
Maintain the DISA Centaur Netflow Data Warehouse, which stores compressed Netflow data on Lustre clusters. Support analyst usage of the command line tool: System for Internet Level Knowledge (SiLK), developed by the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) Network Situational Awareness Team at Carnegie Melon University. Work on the redesign of this system and its integration with other cyber capabilities in both Unclassifed and Isolated SECRET environments. Must install servers, virtual components, operating systems, applications, and storage and database systems. Must be able to install and configure network devices that feed this system. Must track all changes to the application, and work with stakeholders to ensure needs are being met.
Establishes database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy. Specific responsibilities of the Database Engineer include working with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the client's entity relationship and flow of data including: developing the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model; and making recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained. Also, participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment. Candidate is expected to work at unclassified or classified secret SAIC facilities.
BA/BS plus 5 years of experience
Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance
Experience managing netflow data
Experience with databases
Experience managing and developing on Lustre clusters
Experience with Big Data tools such as Mothra, HDFS, Spark, etc.
Preferred experience with System for Internet Level Knowledge (SiLK) Canegie Melon open source tool
