SAIC is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join SAIC’s team, in support of The Air Force Material Command (AFMC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Air Traffic Control and Landing System (ATCALSS) Sustainment Branch System Sustainment Manager at Tinker Air Force Base, to help our Nation manage and sustain portable air traffic control and landing systems. These systems are crucial to the safe conduct of flight operations for home station and forward deployed aircraft.
Under this Task Order, SAIC will provide Scientific and Technical Information (STI) deliverables by performing RDT&E and other Research and Development (R&D) related analytical services to achieve mission requirements. SAIC will design, develop, and implement Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Supportability, and Interoperability (RMSQI) solutions that directly benefit the warfighter, while decreasing logistic and ownership costs. RDT&E activities include applied research and development efforts for the primary purpose of advancing scientific and technical knowledge and applying the knowledge to achieve national goals. This research and analysis will include reliability, obsolescence, Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), system degradation, structures, corrosion, and system sustainability to identify impacts, improvements, alternate solutions, and more efficient methods and techniques to increase warfighting system and weapons RMSQI.
The candidate will serve as the Senior Engineer, leading and overseeing the engineering aspects of multiple program components, system engineering practices, tools, and methods used to identify RMSQI issues and sustain ATCALS. The Senior Engineer will be responsible to support a multi-disciplined and matrixed engineering team for the successful engineering analysis, tests, reliability studies, and sustainment studies necessary to identifying and deploying improvements to the systems, components, and associated support and production equipment and processes. Servant leadership will be required to provide support to engineers through training, communications, analysis of technical data, documentation, troubleshooting, adjudication of technical issues, and facilitating technical information sharing internal and external to the program. The Senior Engineer is a direct report to the Program Manager with responsibility and accountability for all technical matters on the program.
Manage and integrate activities in accordance with contract requirements, and ensure technical, schedule, cost, and financial performance
Define or contribute to the program baseline then execute the program to comply with baseline requirements
Manage risk, customer relationships, and program staffing for all matters related to technical performance
Ensure compliance with quality standards and escalate challenges to SAIC leadership and Air Force technical warrant holders
Oversee multiple technical project teams, ensuring benefits are delivered in accordance with program standards and requirements
Champion the integration of industry best practices and innovation to improve operational performance, availability, capacity, and cost efficiency
Prepare and complete action plans, implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, while resolving technical problems and conducting audits.
Identify trends, determine system improvements, and implement changes to maintain and improve mission readiness
Assist the PM with transition efforts, including communications, technical standards, performance metrics, recruiting efforts, and knowledge management
Experience working with the Air Force Customer, specifically the Air Force Material Command, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, or Air Traffic Control and Landing System Sustainment Branch
Experience performing supervisory functions, such as time approvals for charging, expense reports, travel plans, employee performance coaching/feedback, salary administration, and staffing functions
3 years of experience as a chief engineer or equivalent
Strong understanding and 10 years of experience in Reliability, Maintainability, Quality, Supportability, and Interoperability (RMQSI), and quality processes, to include failure mode analysis, reliability centered maintenance, critical safety item lists, and mishap and hazard risk assessment data
Experience in continual improvement with respect to maintenance processes
Direct experience in reliability and obsolescence life cycle maintenance of components and systems
Experience in structural analysis, including NDT and NDI oversight and utilization
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering degree and 12+ years and or equivalent experience in ATCLAS/High Reliability Organization assignments
