SAIC is seeking a talented Hypersonics Test Engineer Analyst to provide analytical, technical, and administrative support to Navy CPS test and evaluation branch. This position is located in Alexandria, VA.
Note: This role offers temporary work from home/ remote/ virtual work as part of a virtual team due to COVID-19.
Researches, designs, develops, and tests structures, propulsion units, and guidance and control subsystems for aircraft, spacecraft/vehicles, missiles, power plants, satellites, and related systems.
Analyzes aerospace product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs, which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
Some elements of aerospace engineering are aerodynamics, propulsion, control or flight design and structures.
Aerospace engineering addresses the integration of all components that constitute an aerospace vehicle (subsystems including power, communications, thermal control, life support, etc.) and its life cycle (design, temperature, pressure, radiation, velocity, life time), leading to extraordinary challenges and solutions specific to the domain of aerospace systems engineering.
Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives.
Work is reviewed by supervisor/lead to measure meeting objectives.
Directs established guidelines, procedures and policies. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of the variety of factors.
FREEDOM TO ACT: Works under general direction on routine work. May receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Follows established procedures. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Exercises judgement within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
IMPACT: Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or erroneous decisions or recommendations may cause delays in program schedules and may result in allocation of additional resources.
LIASON: Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.
The Test Engineer shall provide technical assistance and management support to the government Test Manager for different aspects of flight and ground testing including:
Interfacing with test ranges
Providing asset and auxiliary sensors support
Assisting with requirements development and verification, security, and risk development and verification activities
Supporting program transition from testing to production.
Supporting Test data collection and synthesis
Preparing reports and answering data calls from Program Office and Navy leadership.
Responsibilities will also include development of test support documentation (including test and evaluation master plans (TEMPs), environmental documentation, security documentation, and more), as well as participation in various technical working group meetings.
Candidates will serve as an integrated member of the government team and support contractors, and shall represent government direction at review meetings.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to concisely communicate technical information to senior leaders is essential.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE:
Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years’ experience or Masters with focus in Engineering Sciences Discipline (aerospace, engineering management, systems engineering, industrial engineering, software engineering).
Some familiarity with DOD Test and Evaluation (T&E) processes.
Ability to perform analysis on hypersonic test results.
Ability to engage senior Government customers.
Ability to develop papers and presentations related to hypersonic technologies.
Ability to maintain professional demeanor at all times.
Dedicated to customer service, quality, and team building.
Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently.
Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a TS Clearance.
Experience with NAVSEA and Strategic Systems Programs.
Experience with Navy Missile Weapon System Acquisition programs.
Background in hypersonic, Aircraft, and autonomous system technologies.
Familiarity with Programming (any language).
Experience/education related to software development/test.
