Job Description


The Defense Systems Group of SAIC is currently seeking an OCONUS Field Engineer to support its network-focused operations.

The candidate will provide systems engineering and networking support to programs and capabilities fielded and sustained OCONUS with an evolving integration roadmap. Support a complex multi-user wired and wireless network. Provide network architecture, software, information assurance, line-of-sight analysis and interoperability standard implementation support of deployed systems. Configuring and testing software/hardware installations, and troubleshooting and verification of connectivity across platforms is required. Support configuration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of networks that provide full motion video, system meta-data, and other sensor connectivity to command and control assets in operation centers. Provide real-world analysis and feedback on new technology as fielded. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of hardware (routers, switches, encoders, decoders, nodes, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.) and software interconnection.

The candidate may be required to assist with the movement and installation of capabilities inside and outside of Forward Operating Bases (FOBs). Climbing permanent towers up to 180 feet in height may be required once trained.

Must satisfactorily complete CONUS Replacement Center (CRC) requirements, including medical, dental and training requirements prior to deployment. Must be able to lift 97 pounds occasionally and 73 pounds frequently. Must meet DoD Height/Weight standards. Must be willing to live and work in austere, hostile environment for extended periods.




Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years, or Associate’s and 9 years of experience in areas of related networking and/or engineering.



DoD 8570.01-Manual Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II or higher.

  • 7-10 years of supporting complex multi-user/asset networks
  • 3-5 years of leading hardware/software test bench efforts
  • 2-3 years of command and control (C2) hardware/software troubleshooting
  • 2-3 years working in combat zones
  • 1-2 years directly supporting base defense or combined joint operations center
  • 1-2 years RF link planning tool design and implementation
