SAIC is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support our ServiceNow business application development team at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA.  NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC) is located in Hampton, VA.  SAIC is the prime contractor on the Langley IT Enhanced Services (LITES) II contract at NASA LaRC supporting this project. 

 

Job Description:

The Business Analyst will function as a liaison between customer organizations/groups and the ServiceNow development team on requirements for the development of a software business application. They provide an analysis of users’ business needs/requirements and work with developers to design effective, simple, and creative automation solutions within project constraints.

 

- Serve as the primary interface between customers from multiple disciplines and the ServiceNow technical team

- Performs high-level and detailed requirements analysis and advises on process improvements

- Assesses technical solutions to solve customers’ needs and advises on technical approach

- Effectively communicate the clients' requirements to the development team and ensure that the project meets the business' goals

- Provide analysis, design, documentation, and testing on projects with moderate supervision

- Participate in discussions between the development and customer teams to capture business requirements, stories, use cases, business flows and acceptance criteria

- Documents processes, develops user stories, acceptance criteria, and, along with the project team, conducts sprint planning and reviews of the requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are accurately interpreted

- Proactively communicates and collaborates with customers, project team, and key stakeholders ensure shared understanding of roles, needs, solutions, plan, and progress

- Communicates changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements - verbally and through written documentation - to customers, project managers, development team, and other stakeholders so that requirements, issues, and solutions are understood

- Participates in product testing

- Ensure that all project team members understand and implement functional and user interface requirements as intended; hence participate in design reviews and project team reviews to assess test cases, documentation, and other specifications throughout the project

- Work with the QA teams, providing testing scenarios to them and performing initial testing by evaluating the constructed product against the use cases, user interface design, and test cases; to ensure that the product meets the stated acceptance criteria

- Manage the project team through the Agile project lifecycle including requirements, development, testing/quality assurance, configuration management, and production release

- Conduct sprint planning and sprint review meetings as needed

- Collaborate across teams to gain consensus for project direction and requirements agreement

- Assist in evaluating design of new and existing systems to judge their functionality, effectiveness, reliability, performance, usage, maintainability and cost of ownership

- Actively manage schedule, resources, and risks throughout the project delivery

- Develop and maintain project plans and a master schedule for the project

- Provide project status reviews and overviews to the team, customer, and leadership

- Provide resource management support

- Manage customer and management expectations and communicate effectively to both

- Serve as an interface between the development team and contract management

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, and an accredited qualification in Management Consultancy, or similar
  • Experience writing business, functional, and technical requirements for projects, including writing epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Ability to design and maintain efficient customer portal support and feedback channels
  • Exceptional communication skills toward facilitating the use of new software systems
  • Effective documentation skills to create detailed user stories portraying the customer’s requirements
  • Solid planning, collaboration, communication and business relationship skills with customers, management peers, and team members
  • Experience in IT with a strong technical background/acumen and experience in full development of web applications
  • Experience utilizing ServiceNow
  • Proven experience of project management processes and methodologies, development lifecycle methodologies, across complex technology initiatives
  • Full understanding of the software development process including analysis, design, coding, system and user testing, problem resolution and planning with an emphasis on Agile approaches such as Scrum
  • Strong written, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Motivated, self-directed, results oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Experience successfully managing multiple concurrent tasks and priorities
  • Experience managing project scope and schedule
  • Familiarity with Agile concepts and processes
  • Extremely organized with strong time-management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

 

Desired Qualifications:

- Knowledge of SericeNow’s PPM (Project Portfolio Management) module capabilities
