SAIC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our talented team in our Chantilly, VA office. The ideal candidate shall be able to support the best in class IT Infrastructure. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.  The ideal candidate shall have a strong background in routing, switching, and assist in Layer 2 and Layer 3 troubleshooting.  The ideal candidate should have understanding in capacity planning, network modeling, and overall enterprise performance optimization.  This position requires an active TS/SCI with Poly

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Professional level vendor certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, CISSP, and JNCIA.
  • Knowledge of network technologies, switches, performance, encryption devices, and the cloud.
  • Designing and troubleshooting multi-area OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS environments
  • Perform network design, development, and troubleshooting, as well as system performance analysis and design.
  • Interfaces with customers, developers and support programs to ensure optimal flow of communications between subsystems.
  • Knowledge of network environments such as cloud, high-speed processing, and large data sets.
  • Perform network modeling and analysis of both small and large datasets.
  • Work with customers to build and maintain a data pipeline, from ingest of high volume streaming data to execution of complex analyses and appropriate visualization of results.
  • Create and deliver presentations and papers with results of data analysis.
  • Successfully work independently as well as with a team.
  • Excellent writing, organization, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Skillfully manage multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Recommend architecture plans, service level terms, and perform business case analysis.  
  • Understand and execute technical activities in accordance with policies, procedures, and work instructions and specific customer requirements.
  • Contribute effectively to quick-turnaround tasks and data analysis.
  • Strong creative technical problem-solving, with the ability to design and execute solutions to real-world problems.
  • Ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.
  • Ability to shift between multiple projects, including quick-turnaround tasks and longer-term projects.
  • Experience working with and protecting data across multiple systems with varying security restrictions and terms of use.

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working with networking and network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH, VPNs)
  • Demonstrated experience in the following: Cisco and Juniper experience implementing and troubleshooting routers, switches.  
  • CCNA Certification
